Grass cutting video (mine)

Zone 6, OH(Zone 6a)

Ok, don't want the general public (non-subscribers) eating up my bandwidth so I'm posting this here in the parking lot (since they can't see it). This is related to a post where people were talking about what they used to cut down their ornmental grasses and I had mentioned I use hedge shears with a serrated blade. Well, I have a dwarf miscanthus that I used for this video. So it does go faster than usual since the stalks aren't that thick....but you get the idea. It does go fast :)

Here's the video I made:

FYI - Camcorder for this video is Sony DCR-TRV 330

hmmmm.... They don't make videos long enough to show how long it took me to cut mine down with the hand pruners! LOL

I can't believe you gals! LOL I suppose this is why I posted it. I got the impression some of you folks were out there using nail trimmers or something similar to cut down your ornamental grasses...lol I guess this goes to show, don't ever assume someone knows all the tricks :) I certainly don't and I've learned a lot from this site and the people here!

Encore !!! ...

Great lil shortee video fer a good 'lernin', HC ... (ya breezed right on thru that stuff, like a hot knife thru butter!) .. lol ..

When it comes to torture (rather 'cuttin' such stuffs) ... it's the husky weedeater with the (freshly sharpened) blade attachment .. fer me ! Hackin' at the stuff with precise quick little swiping 'gougin' motions .. to keep the grasses from opting to tango with the shaft ... hee

Something I have learned when cutting grasses is to wear long sleeves and pants!!!

Those blades are merciless.

On my larger clumps of grasses I tie the grasses in 2-3 places with twine. I then cut them off at the desired with my small chain saw. Nice and tidy already tied into a nice bundle.

well being the firebug i am i was always burning my right where it stood.
I have since started clipping-the sib iris were another thing i use to burn the dead foliage instead of cutting!!! i have learned no to burn in the garden unless its a fire pit!!!
oh and never light the leaves on fire where they lay, around the brush and Telephone pole-man do those poles go up fast!!! :)
