Garden Watchdog

Okay, I admit I'm a little slow sometimes. Decided to order seeds from Parks, so did a google search for thier web site. A GWD thread came up so i checked it. Holy Cow, what an experience!! After how many years here, 3? 4? I just know ventured in to it. Used the judgement of all that posted and am now looking for a more reliable company.
Got a Select Seeds catalog in the mail yest.....and whats on the front cover? "A Garden Watchdog top 20 Company"
Dave that is just too cool. Thanks for everything you do.

I read about the Garden Watchdog in Organic Gardening a few months ago. Since I do most of my buying through the mail, I had to check it out. I was so impressed just by that feature, that I decided to subscribe to DG. Little did I know at that point how impressed I''d become by so much else and everyone here at DG. I'd been running across DG for years by googling plants and getting the PF, but it took the GW to really suck me in. And now I can't leave.

I saw some of the negatives about Park's, but I have ordered from them several times and have been pleased with them. Of course I have mainly ordered seeds.

I did order 2 rose standards last year. One of them looked like a dead stick after a couple months while the other one bloomed it's head off. I contacted them & they immediately said they would issue me a credit (less shipping of course). It came in the mail shortly thereafter.

I think most of the negative comments on any of the Garden Watchdog ratings are usually for live plants. I think it must be extremely hard to send live plants through the mail. Too many variables & things that can't be controlled.

Thank you, Magpye. I'm enjoying myself here.

I sell plants for a living wholesale. We have 73 acres in FL that we grow on and this site is so helpful. Just joined this week and I am using all of it.

To mail plants is very difficult. To truck them on your own trucks as we do and deliver to garden centers is tough enough but to mail them is a special problem and once they leave your hands all you can do is pray.

... Bev .. jes a wee lil place, 'ey? .. (*luvinly teasin' ya a bit*) ...

'Michelle' .. careful .. for there ARE repercussions, ya know! For ex: can't manage to get yourself UP and at it - with
the many 'other' things that we each know, still rank high in importance !! .. ( * hee hee * ) ..

And procrastination .. is not a virtue (or, so I've heard!) .. LOL

I too saw something about the watchdog in a garden mag I recieved, checked it out, now I always check to see how the company checks out before I order. I think it will save me alot of money. Thanks Dave!!!

Welcome to Dave's garden.

Personally, I like Park seeds when it comes to their seeds (I have not ordered any plants from them). The only problem I have ever had was pelleted petunias arriving crushed, but the quality and selection of their annual seeds are excellent.

BEV, 73 acres... I bet you can fit some plants in there. WOW !!
