Green Nubbies :)

Springboro, OH(Zone 6a)

So.....what "nubbies" do you have poking through the ground??? I love this part of gardening!!! Every late winter, when some of those little green gems pop up through the dirt....I get such a rush :) LOL. So far, I've only seen really good nubbies on some sedum. Tons of the little guys popping through. One of my neighbor's hostas has 1 nubbie. LOL, yes, I checked out my neighbor's plants, too!!!

A question: I planted Shasta Daisy seeds last spring and the foliage looked to be a really good size by late summer. I fully expect these plants to return and do well for me this year. Can anyone tell me when Shasta nubbies first emerge?? Should I be seeing anything w/i the next couple of weeks? Thanks!

Nubbies - LOL! CUTE!
I too went outside, Its is pretty nice out, the snow is finally melting here.
No nubbies yet here, my helbores looks like its in suspended animation.
I have regular field daisies, they stay green all year.

Don't forget to dig just a teeny weeny bit around the crown....sometimes those nubbies are just beneath the surface! LOL :) Yippee!!! Nubbies!!! :)

My crocus are more than nubs, my daffs are just starting to peek up. The hellebores are in bloom. Haven't checked the hostas yet.

Still frozen brown turf here.

If I saw a green nubbie, I'd have to scold it and cover it up. Way too soon here, cause if they start poking up now, they'd get their nubbins froze off sooner or later.

Terry, I'd be very interested to hear if your hosta nubs are showing up at all.

The 'Autumn Joy' Sedum here has all kinds of nubbies! I was really pretty amazed at how many there were so soon. I'd guess maybe 1/2" up already. Showed them to the girls and they were very excited. Lots of fun to pass along the wonder of nature's awakening :)
