Can we list Topic Starter's State in the Forum Grid?

Schwenksville, PA(Zone 6a)

Is there any possibility of listing the state the Topic Starter is from on the Forum Grid? So many threads are from people in different zones that I find myself wasting a lot of time going into each thread to see where the starter is from. I just don't have the time to read every thread and therefore I prefer to respond to threads within my zone (or at least close to it). Seems like I have to open 10-20 threads to find one in the same region I am. It discourages me from participating as much as I would like to because of the time involved.

That is one of the reasons I really liked the idea of the state forums, but I understand that is not possible (other than Texas). Does anyone have an easy way of finding threads from people in the same zone? Any help would be appreciated.

I do not see this as a good idea. I think that we should respond to threads accoring to our interests, not where the starter lives close to us.

Perhaps a broader way to address this is to show the member's hardiness zone on the Forum grid. By using zones, I can readily exchange ideas and information from folks in a swathe of states all the way to the east coast.. including Pennsylvania... and even outside of North America. :)

That would be nice, indeed!

Donna...yes, showing zones would do the same thing for the most part. Only difference being that plants commercially available in PA, NJ, NY, OH & WV would not necessarily be available across the entire zone. Listing the zones would be very helpful.

I guess if you are retired and want to spend a huge amount of time on the computer then you could check out all the treads according to your interests. Unfortunately many of us don't have that kind of time.

I understand that restriction on time, Secluded! Danged if there are far more threads I'm interested in than I have time for... though I do try to squeeze 'em in when I'm not on the hunt for specific info. ;)
