Can't get in to chat!!!!!

It has been a while, but when I try I just get a big box with a little box with a red x in it!!

I have the same problem. I think its because the latest versions of XP are shipped without Java - you now have to pay for it, Microsoft are not allowed to include it any more. Chat needs Java to work. As I'm a mean git and won't pay I guess I can't chat either!
Is yours a relatively new PC Ruby?

PC is not new but XP is.

I guess I better check with Dave or Gardenwife to see how I can get around this!!!!

I have XP & Java. You can go to a website & download java and I don't think you have to pay for it. Just go to google & look up java free downloads. Let me know if it works. By the way, when you get java, you can get on the chatroom at other times. I have been there & it is working but nobody knows it's on all the time.

Xp shipped with the necessary up till last year, now it doesn't. Result of the anti-trust stuff. Older versions will be fine new ones - well .....free downloads haven't helped me!

Sue, I am sure I won't be much help but what browser are you using? You have to have Java to get in chat. I couldn't get it to work with Firefox forever but finally did. I don't have windows xp but maybe some of the windows updates will have the java on it. Did you ask over in the computer forum I am sure GW will know the answer for you?

I FINALLY figured it out! I got in! YEA!!
