LOL Maxine. I can almost see the Koi picking the tags out!
I'll post back soon with my lily list.
CLOSED: Aquatic/Water Plants For Goldfish/Koi Ponds
Charlotteda - is still looking to trade her lotus bulbs for named lilies.
Badseed have you give any more thought to a Lotus Co-Op?
It was warmer here today and I've got Spring Fever.
Judy
Well they have all found homes.
I did pot up some other things today. Will let y'all know when I am sure they are healthy and viable.
I have the minature water hyacinth. I just removed a 5 gal. bucket from my small pond.

busybee - "I have the minature water hyacinth. I just removed a 5 gal. bucket from my small pond."
Me please... how much would it cost to ship a 5 gal bucket..... lol lol
But I would totally appreciate 2, 1 gallon ziplock bags full, don't want to be greedy now do I.
Do you want to trade (I have house plants mostly) or payment of postage?
Judy
busybee, any babies of your minature water hyacinth?
Maxine
They are small now due to many of the larger leaves dying during the winter. I am looking for lotus and water lilys.
I would like to get in this trade for water plants, I could use any plants that anyone would like to trade, , I have the parrots feather, but I'm like everyone else, it doesn't look good right now... I can't believe you can even say hyacinth or water lettuce on here, I asked for it last year on garden web and it didn't even get posted, I recieved a mail saying I wasn't allowed to ask for it.. That it was an illegal plant. But it's not up here, dies out in the winter.
I could trade other plants, hosta and blue fescue are a couple, I'll have to wait to see what comes up around here, and it will be quite a while!
Indigoez I'll take a bunch of your lettuce and water hyacinth... I love them...
I've never seen the minature hyacinth...
this is the first time I've posted! linda
Welcome to DG Linda!
I just found this odd looking plant floating in my pond. It's like the tiniest water lily in the world. (it isnt a water lily). I'm watching it to see what it turns out to be! If it's something neat I'll try and get some together to trade here.
Still waiting on those WL seeds to germinate. I'm starting to wig out over possibly buying defunk seeds. :-
Linda, I love your name. I am such a hosta holic but lordy, I cant afford to buy many. Daves is a fun place. Some great people at GW too but after a short trip to Disney I spend most of my time here. (dont ask).
I had lots of fun yesterday, potting up some things from the pond.
In a couple weeks, maybe they will look good enough to mention here :)
I purchased an Arc En Ciel lily at Walmart today for 4.88. Yea, I know there is a 50% chance it is labeled wrong but I couldnt help myself :)
charlotte
Maxine, I have the white lily and the tropical pink I mentioned earlier.
Still waiting on these other seeds to germinate.
Char, If you still want some of this pink lily let me know. You can have it for SASE when I repot.
I think I am gonna go repot now cause I'm getting tired of waiting for spring! LOL
BBS with the results.
Thank you so much. I'm trying to stick with named things right now. I dont have unlimited space and I love to be able to tell someone the name if they ask. What a beautiful day we've had here - its 3 p.m. and about 71. I wonder if the tiny lily looking thing in your pond could be snowflake. I had some but I killed it. Not hardy here.
Ohh I looked that up right after I posted that thread Char. I don't think that's it- but it could be. If it does well I'll put some aside for SASBE.
I planted some canna lilies last year (in the pond) and they did pretty well. These werent aquatics though. They are the normal orange/red ones.
Thought it was neat they grew in water and didnt rot. :-D
I will probably have plenty of the Orange/Red Cannas ( I THINK they are heirlooms too)- I have 4 that I know of- so if anyone wants some let me know.
I'll keep you in mind when I get named lilies Char.
I only got to take 3 cuttings from the tropical today. Will get more later when it grows a bit. (later this year)
Looked at the white one- can probably get 5-6 cuttings off it.
Check above for my updated list. (the 30th post down)
My cannas just dont do as well in the pond even the water ones. I think I have some kind of nutrient problem. Though the string algea does really well :)
Its still cold enough here that I hesitate to say what I'll have so I dont want to set up any for sure trades.
Crimsontsavo: I will send you some dwarf cattails if you dont already have them from Maxine
I may have:
Marlica albida-hardy white lily: probably for sure
water celery
variegated dwarf sweet flag
Charlotteda I have five hardy lilies but cannot find labels I saved. Rats!!!
So will divide come spring and give out any left to who wants them. Will have lots of what you call unbrella plant and its little cousin. Tried to save some water Hycenth in the house in a fish tank, but not doing great. Got to check my pond water as this hot spell brought out the frogs and toads. Found six toads dead in the pond yesterday. Probably the cold water or something else. Dont want my Koi to get sick. I dont know my water plants that well but will have plenty of the long green strands of plant. You tie them in a bunch and sink to the bottom. Also Parrets Feather. I for one do not have any cats tail. Got four little water lettice's in my fish tank.
Ted
I'll be back to this thread in a few days and will attempt to make a listing of who has what to trade for what like I did on the Holiday Cactus thread
.... I'm creating a website for another DGer and it's taking me longer than expected, story of my life... (before you ask I don't normally do this, it's just a favor for a friend).
Judy
TARogers5, I live in the same zone as you and I do over winter my water hyacinth inside. They need alot of light. Mine seem to do best in containers (half a gallon milk jug or a clear rubbermaid shoebox) in a southern sunny window. I just havent been able to give them the strong light they want artifically.
If they look puney, I add a pinch of miracle grow each week. I think I have about 5 plants now. Last year I tried to overwinter 2 and by mid march I was throwing out handfuls !
Shame to hear of your dead frogs. I love frogs and toads-hope mine dont die.
I'm sure to have some more lilies are the season goes on.
I have purple picklerush thats beginning to put out. Come on spring.
Thanks Char, - pretty sure Maxine has given me some though. I'll definately keep you in mind if our trade doesnt happen!
This is my WANT list of marginals, I do want lilies too :)
Sagittaria "Crushed Ice" graminea
Upright Water Clover marsilea quadrifolia
Dwarf Bamboo dulichium Arundinaceum
Golden Club orontuim aquaticum
Pink Picklerush pontederia cordata
Water Celery Flamingo
Hardy Frog Bit
This is my will probably have for trade: I say probably because some of these things are still dormant and I would not feel right about sending until they green up.
Miniature Cattails
Corkscrew Rush Juncus ellusus spiralis
Lizards Tail saururus cernuus
Purple picklerush pontederia cordata
Sweet Flag acorus calamus
Dwarf Variegated Sweet Flag acorus gramineus variegata
Hardy white water lily marliac albida
I may have a few others , but I'm waiting on a bit warmer weather.
crimsonsalvo, you can count on me sending you the dwarf cattails, if and when SPRING ever arrives here in Wisc. I now have around 8" of snow on the ground.
Maxine
Maxine, you have my sympathy. Though I would love some of your fresh air sometime about August :)
crimsonsalvo, could you spare a rooted cutting of your white canna?
Also I will take any extra water plants that people wish to send me. Right now, I have no idea what I have to trade other than the dwarf cat tails. I looked in the fruit cellar this morning and have a full pot that I can trade of the cat tails.
Maxine
Maxine- it isnt a white canna- it's a white hardy water lily. Sorry for the confusion. :-(
You're welcome to some of it though! I am gonna try my dangest to get a load of the whites so I can just send people flowering size lilies this year. I'll post back here when I do it.
I gotta get off here- mum needs the computer. If I don't post back tonight I'll try to tomorrow evening after work.
-Jocie.
if anyone will have floaters for postage let me know! Since mine won't make it through the winter :)
Thanks!
Lena
Hey Lena, Where have you been hiding? LOL Hey, there is going to be a roundup in Cincinnati next month. You know how to get here so I hope you'll come see us!!
It was in the 50s last weekend and a bunch of my water plants started to green up and the fishies were swimming around and the splashing of the water was so pleasant! Then the snow came and the 20ish temps. ICK!! I'll have a better idea of what plants I have soon but it is nice to see the green sprouts on some of them now.
hey badseed!! I've been busy with my business but can't fight the gardening urge anymore lol. I've bookmarked the roundup and will try to get up to it.
Lena
Cool! It would be great to meet you!
I have this water flower. I think it is a lily. Does anyone have any idea when and how to seperate this? It has been in my pond for a few years.

I also have Yellow Water Lily-Nuphar lutea. I have no idea how to seperate these little bugger either. If anyone has any info on dividing them, please let me know. I also have seed to these.

I lust after everything, but know better than to raise my hand. Pinky100 those are beautiful plants. Badseed will probably be along in awhile to give you advice.
Ok thanks Judy. I will watch this page.
One of you should have sent me an Enag. LOL I just happened to pop in here. This site has good directions for dividing your water lilies. :)

Thank you Badseed for the information. Plus that flower looks a lot like mine.
Does anyone have any idea how to divide this and when with a Yellow Water Lily-Nuphar lutea? thanks
Such a beautiful lily pinky!
Thank you crimsontsavo.
I'm late as usual but about ready to start trying to complete a trade or two
Judy
Me too, Judy, but with ponds frozen over and 10" of snow on the ground, don't think it will be right away that I am interested in pond plants.
Its supposed to be spring according to the calendar, but some body forgot to notify MOTHER NATURE!!
HAPPY EASTER, everyone.
Maxine
Judy, I have some things breaking dormancy. What exactly are you looking for and what do you have to trade.
