Question about the FAQ's

A couple of times now, a member has asked all other members to please read and update the FAQ's in order to learn about plants, to help Terry, and to help new members who may ask questions which have been asked before. I have asked for clarification about this FAQ, but I have never received an answer. The only FAQ's that I can find deals with how to post and proper posting etiquette. Is there a FAQ's which deals with commonly asked plant questions? Here are a couple of links that I am referring to: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/481289/ and http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/476901/ According to that last thread, there is a FAQ's which gives advice about pests, propagation, soil, etc. Would somebody please tell me if such a plants FAQ exists? Clare, I read the thread, and I think you answered Norma's questions correctly.

There is an FAQ for each tab - Home, Forums, PlantFiles, GWD, etc.

There's also a forum for the so-called "Classic Threads" which contains numerous threads that deal with the most common questions and concerns that gardeners have.

General propagation techniques rightly belong in Garden Terms or in the Propagation forum for further discussion.

Techniques specific to a particular species should be entered in the PlantFiles entry as a comment or the applicable details checked off.

With apologies to Crassulady/Norma (I hope someone points her to this thread as I am reluctant to speak out of school), I do not have any notes from her regarding propagation. She has from time to time emailed the helpdesk with book suggestions, but that's about the only thing I can distinctly recall receiving from her.

Terry, thanks for answering. Please forgive my ignorance, but evey time I click on the FAQ from the Home and different Forums, it leads me to the same FAQ about posting and posting etiquette. PlantFiles has a little different FAQ, but it is again about posting questions. What is GWD? So, when you say that there is a FAQ for each tab, that is not a plant-related FAQ; correct? Sorry if I am being dense here; I just want to make sure I understand.

I do understand about the Classic Threads and Plant Files information. I think Norma must have meant that we should review and add to PlantFiles, or perhaps she is under the impression that a different FAQ exists when it doesn't. Although, it might not be a bad idea to have a plant-related FAQ's for newbies, but I think you're right that Classic threads probably address some, if not most, of those questions.

Clare, if you click on the tabs at the top (there's one colored tab, the rest are grayed out until you click on one of them), each tab has its own FAQ. As long as you're in the Forums tab (no matter which forum you're in), the FAQ is the same - it's intended to answer general questions about posting.)

The Home tab contains information about DG and how to personalize your information, etc.

The Garden Watchdog (GWD) contains questions and answers about how that feature works.

PlantFiles has its own FAQ - explaining how to post a picture, or add information, or why a non-subscribers searching ability is limited.

PlantScout has its own feature-specific questions, as does the Garden Bookworm, Journals, Trading, Garden Terms and Botanary.

Now one thing to get the "hang" of is when you click on the "Home" tab, then click on a watched thread or a favorite forum, you're going to be redirected to the "Forums" tab. (Notice the color scheme changes from green to blue.)
