Carol, One of my soldiers called me the Saturday after he got it. It just tickled us to talk to him. We had some people over that day and they just gathered around the phone and gave him a group Merry Christmas greeting. He is very young, just turned 18 a few months ago. SPC Nagel is from Chicago and is deployed for five more months. He said it he will be glad to come home.
We included four rolls of soft toilet paper in his boxes. My DH said he remembers how rough the toilet paper was when he was in the Army. And that our soldier probably came out of the latrine that morning and said I got to call that lady and say thank you. lol Did not hear from the other fellow though. Many young people today have not been taught the way we were to write thank you notes for everything. But I am sure he was grateful and appreciated the boxes of goodies.
