ME! I am not too "up" on the names but I love to "rock hound".

Hey DAVE!! How about it? Jo

Eatonton, GA

Thanks, Jo ! I think it would be fun and educational.
Folks could post their collections, for others to see, and have the pieces
they don't know the name of I. D.ed.

I think it's a great idea!!
I love rocks but the only ones I collect are for my garden- LOL!!
We have TONS of rock on our property that we have been slowly moving into our yard.

Eatonton, GA

Thanks Berrygirl ! You may have some rocks of interest up that way !

Perry,
There is a very large rock in the edge of our woods that I have been LUSTING after for 15 years but DH won't drag it home via the tractor for me. This rock is the size of a dining room table and is pretty flat. I sooo want it to put in my garden to just sit on it and have flowers planted all around it!
I have repeatedly threatened to hire someone with a front-end loader [$$$$] to move it for me if he won't- but still my DH won't go for it........ :(
I have to say though that this is the ONLY thing he has ever denied me as far as gardening goes so I guess I shouldn't complain- LOL!!
The man is willing to build me a greenhouse but won't drag a rock to the yard- go figure- LOL!

He's probably afraid that it'll break the tractor!

If you had a tractor large and strong enough to do that, imagine the trough that would leave behind! LOL

Bgirl, do you have a friend who has a business that uses a rubber tired loader?
Like Dave said; it may be too heavy for your DH's tractor. And if dragged to the site, as Max said,
it might undo your yard.
You make such a good case for moving your rock; if I had a loader, I'd pull it up there and set it where you want it.-------- Maybe "Kim" would contribute to the project !---------Kidding of course------
Good luck Bgirl---You'll get it moved !
lol,----Perry.

You can count me in. I love both the raw material, the tumbled lumps, the cut gems, and the beads - ooh, the beads!

How cool it would be, to post pictures of my collection and watch what you guys have, too. Oh yes, and the "Guess That Rock"-threads that were in the photo forum were great fun, too.

Hey, thanks Frk ! for your vote.
Even if the R&M forum doesn't materialize, I sure want to see your collection !!
We'll give it a little while, and see what happens.

This would make a very interesting forum perry. You've got my backing. We could span everything from rocks used in the garden (however large or small berrygirl LOL) to the beads that FrkH has
It would be fascinating to see photos and discuss.
I'd love to see a photo of 'your' rock berrygirl :)

I would like a forum on rocks and minerials . I have collected a few , but do not know enough about them. I don't know if I could add enough, too keep it going, I have notice the Geranium forum is gone, did not add enough there, Is there enough people to keep it going.

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Yes, there were a lot of interesting things in that forum that I used to refer to. Don't know if it's accessible elsewhere?

Perhaps it's better just to have threads in one of the general forums, so what we contribute doesn't suddenly vanish.

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

That is what I was gonna suggest, philomel. Just do like some of the others do on a particular theme or subject. Name a thread, keep it going and when it gets too big do parts 2, 3, etc...

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Good idea berrygirl
What do you think boot?

Over to you Perry.....

I usually glance to see how many forums we have each time I get on DG....today it said "there are 90 forums and you are watching 89"....89?? Did Dave add a new on and I missed it?...so off I go to check and see what new forum we had...and WOW...there it was. This will be great!!

Thanks Dave!! Jo
