I haven't sold anything on Ebay for several weeks, but today I got an email with the subject "question from Ebay member". I opened the email, and it read "I paid for this item, when will it be shipped?" and a hyperlink line to Ebay, which included the purported item number.
Being basically suspicious and paranoid regarding email from unknown senders, and knowing I had sold nothing recently I clicked on the link and it took me to a page that looked like the Ebay sign in....Ha! not likely....so I minimized it, and instead, went directly to my address line and signed in to Ebay, and searched the item number, which of course was not found. I went back to the email and was going to reply that the item had been sent by dirigible, but the address was a fake too, so I just deleted the email. Usually the spoof mails I've gotten have purported to be from Ebay, so this is a new twist. Be careful out there, you Ebay sellers!
New Ebay spoof mail
You should have forwarded it to Ebay before you deleted it - spoof@ebay.com . Could you possibly retreive it and forward it??
I did that, but there isn't much they can do about it.
I had a spoof of a similar but different sort. It purported to contain tracking numbers - click link to check on your item. I haven't bought anything, so I knew it was phoney straight away, and when I checked on Ebay the vendor didn't exist either. Care alround is needed.
