How do we request a thread move and "sticky note"?

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6a)

There was a thread in the Classic's Forum that pulls together many instructions/suggestions for propagation. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/367693/. How can I request that it be made a sticky in the Propagation Forum?
Thank you,
Mary Ev.

We can make both changes based on the request here (or you can send it to the helpdesk.)

Before I make any changes, I'd like to make sure we're clear on why/when we "sticky" a thread, and when we archive something to the "Classics". My thought is/was that sticky threads are not necessarily permanent, but intended to be a temporary notice that is made prominent in order to be sure all readers of that forum see it and react to it.

"Classic" threads are intended to be a repository of the most interesting, enlightening and important threads to store for posterity.

If my understanding is wrong, I'll gladly stand corrected ;o)

Hmmm....Well having said that, perhaps I misunderstood. I haven't ever really read anything in the Classics Forum, I was thinking that a sticky could be an overall knowledge base for that particular topic or Forum. Something that would reduce some of the same questions being asked and answered again and again.

I know there have been some things recently that I have done a search on and received so many matches for my search that I couldn't begin to find an answer. For example, I did a search on "spider mites" and got 2,136 matches. I just want to know how to get rid of them, I'm sure it's been asked and answered a dozen times, but I don't know how to narrow my search.

I was just thinking that a sticky could be a general forum, I don't know, topic header? But they could also get cumbersome and should definately be limited if not in time at least in quantity. I'll check the Classics forum and see what it contains.

pssst...if you put double quote marks around your search words, you'll narrow your results down:

a search for spider mites = 2, 142 threads but a search for "spider mites" = 466 threads (still a lot! ;o) http://davesgarden.com/forums/search.php?forum=&search_text=%22spider+mites%22&limit=0&limit_poster=&Search=Search

Thank you, Terry! :)

That is really good info, and with all the new threads lately in the propagation forum (that time of year), it would be nice to have it handy. Maybe we could just take turns "bumping" it up...
