This was sent to me by my cousin who lives in CA, by a friend of hers, and this is the area where I'm suppose to be visiting family in on Sunday. If all of the pics do not load, for those who are not familiar with this procedure, just right click on the box with the red *x* in it, and a box will pop up, then click on *show picture* and the pic should load for you. I'll be heading to CA on Saturday, the southern part, and I am still not sure if I'll be able to visit with my family because of the flooding and damage in this Fillmore area. My family and their homes came through okay, but others were not so fortunate. If I'm able to get there, I'll be taking pics of the area, and I'll post once I am back home. Please keep these folks in your prayers, and lets hope the mud slides stop soon.

grayse2, thanks for posting that link. Those were some incredible shots!

My cousin is suppose to send me more once she gets more, and if I'm still here, I'll post the link to them as well. With all that mud, it just looks like land, but it's not, it's muddy water rushing everywhere.
Here in Louisiana you have flooding all the time, but not with the mud slides and all that. How scary that would be.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

So sad, It was just on the news a man went out to get ice cream and when he came back his wife and daughters were dead. How awful this whole thing is out there.

Sandy, that story really hit me hard too. His entire life (or what's important to him) has vanished. Even his good friend who gave them a roof over their heads when they had nowhere to live died in the mudslide. The poor man must be going out of his mind with grief. I just wish there was something I could do somehow to help. It's all so sad. All those hurricanes, then the earthquake/tsunami, the train wreck, the mudslides and flooding....it's all just too much to take in all at once.

Thanks Grayse2 - wow, that makes me so sad. I don't know what to say. Julie, I see you are here too - hmmm it's so hard not to follow this, and it really gets to me. I know it gets to you too.. Stuff is stuff but to lose any part of one's family much less your entire family. Incomprehensible....

The devastation that has occured is unreal. I CANNOT imagine trying to deal with losing my entire family, and good friend, all in one day.....I honestly don't think I could handle it. I hope that poor man gets some good counseling, because he's going to need LOTS of shoulders to lean on. My cousin emailed me a little bit ago to let me know the main road into Fillmore is open, and she said I must have an angel on my shoulder because that road wasn't suppose to be open until the end of the month. Guess I'm suppose to go and visit my family, huh? I will be taking pics when I go, and will post when I get back home. My heart truly goes out to these people. Maybe I'll get to help someone while I'm there. That would make my trip *the best*. Let's keep these folks in our thoughts and prayers, and hope they recover soon from all of this devastation that is going-on around them.
