How long do i need to wait until i put my little sticks in a bigger pot?
They have got roots now and are growing well.
When do i need to put them into bigger pots?
I want a few in Pots but most in the ground.
Can I put them in the ground in March or do i Wait till April?
Can I even put them in the ground in my zone?
Help Please.
Robbie
After 14 months, the pod is ripe!!!
Robbie, I don't transplant my seedlings at least until they have true leaves. So to be safe, I'd say not until they have four leaves. Sometimes mine don't even get transplanted until they have six leaves and I remember one time having a bunch that I didn't have room for, so they stayed in the planting pot until they were over a foot tall and they did well. In fact, they bloomed before most.
Sure, you can put them in the ground, but not until the ground has warmed up and there is no chance that you will have a frost. I'd say when the temps don't go below 40 degrees at night, you could plant them.
Good Luck. I wish I lived in your zone. Can't wait for spring here. It's -2 degrees right now. That's isn't very good brug growing weather. LOL!
Stay warm, Shirley. I can't imagine it getting that cold here.
i think it's a good thing you didn't decide to wait even longer before picking the pod. i remember reading that since they won't look like they're ripe from the outside that when they're not picked, the seeds start sprouting inside the pod and then die. you might try growing out a seedling to see if there's still a virus lingering around your plants since seedlings are suppose to be virus free. ooh, vulcanicola seeds? i wanna try! :) :) my sangs are looking pretty happy with the winter weather we've been getting so far. now i just need to get them to flower...
I wish sangs liked zone, 8a, I would love to grow them, just saying their name is fun. What's that - it's a sang, just has a nice ring about it, huh??!!
Thank You Burgie i think a few of them that i will be keeping inside are ready to go into bigger pots then.
i have 2 that are at least 2,1/2 ft tall and have 20 to 30 leafs with more coming from the base of all the leafs.
So i will put the 2 of them in bigger pots i am so glad i asked thank you so much for all your help.
Happy Gardening!
Robbie
You're welcome, Robbie. Enjoy your plants. I hope you have a digital so we can see pictures this summer.
wow my seedlings are all doing good but most only have about 8 to twelve leaves,
Doris, if they have that many leaves they are doing very well. Congrats.
