wishing 'shoe

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Shoe, I'm so glad you're feeling better.

I had a friend who had a new kind of carpal tunnel surgery with a lazer....he was playing his guitar in a week...and he plays lead in a band! I hope that's what you are having...I know people who have had the regular surgery kind, and their recovery time was longer...although, they were able to use it some in a couple of weeks. The lazer is the way to go if you have that option...very little pain and short recovery time....our guitar playing friend is thrilled...wishes he'd had it done long ago.

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Shoe I had the bursa pad removed. Hurt it and it kept swelling and then they would withdraw fluid and inject with cortisone and then a month later it was do it again. After about two years of this I decided it was time to do something. This was the other arm not the one I broke a couple of years ago. I guess these arms are too long and keep getting in the way. Naw if that was true I'd have a couple of broke legs to go with the arms. LOL
I bet you kept those poor people laughting all the time you were there. I bet they are still talking about you. If I had known, I would have come and set in on the session so I could tell Bobbbie about how much they laughted and me also.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Well Shut my pie hole!!!!!! That would have been a great surgery to have on camera! I can only imagine Shoe telling stories while the surgeon's are trying to keep a steady hand while they are close to important nerves and ligaments. SO Shoe if you can't move your elbow without making your foot move you made them laugh too much!!!!!!!!!!

HUGS and best wishes for a fast recovery from both surgeries.
Lani
Pondy to you though! lol

Louisville, KY

Shoe, did they give you a sucker for being a good boy? LOL
It was so good to see you back online!
I hope they were able to "fix" that funny bone nerve; ya gotta have that to survive in the garden/greenhouse from mishaps.

So Shoe, I sure hope that since it was your funny bone they operated on that it is working great again and you will be making all of us laugh again very soon. What would life be without Shoe's funny bone going full time?

Hope you are up and around soon but don't overdo that funny bone or you might lose your sense of humor pretty quickly. Wouldn't want that now!

Thanks for the info on laser, Mel. Unfortunately I'm having the next operation (carpal tunnel) the "traditional" way...sharp knives cutting on me, then followed by the entrails of a mature feline holding me back together. :>( (Or do they still use cat gut for sutures?)

Jim, I was wondering if it was the broken arm from the other year. Thanks for the update.

Good to be back, most of me anyway. Today I type with both hands, for a while anyway. (Might even go back and edit my keyboard stuttering in my last post...don't know how ya'll could even read that!)

Gary and Pondy, my funny bone is hopefully healing to perfection! (I think it must go all over my body, not just in my arm, but I ain't a'gonna tell the Doc that! Will just let him think it's only in my elbow.) And no, I didn't even get a sucker for being a good boy! They were gonna give me a floppy hat though, for surgery, but guess they forgot...or they didn't have one in purple, which was my request. Oh well.....

And yes, I also had to wear the non-slip socks! They were tannish-brown, brand new, and hurt my feet within minutes of putting them on. They also hid my painted toenail (blue with gold splashes, courtesy of my DD and friend). Guess that was a good thing?

More later. Cya!

Coopersburg, PA(Zone 6b)

Fort Pierce, FL(Zone 10a)

Shoe, as much as we miss you, I bet the hospital staff was glad to see you come back. They don't usually have much to laugh about and I'm sure you had most of 'em grinnin'! Get well and come back to us soon, the hospital people will just have to get along with the old "grumpies". *grin*

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

I hope you are doing ok, we miss you.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Hi, Shoe! Thinking about ya today. I saw a big pile of somethingerother in the yard and thought, "boy, I'm glad I'm not barefoot like Shoe!". ;)

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

just checking in, one-armed and woozy headed!

I survived another one, folks. So many things to survive from going thru this! Being at the hosp so early in the morning (after a no-sleep night!), my stomach so empty my belly-button rubs against my backbone, being a 6'2 long-haired grizzled-bearded dirt farmer attired in a "prom dress reject" (it had a flower print) (with no corsage but yet it came with non-matching no-slip socks)! The whole visit the operating staff laughing to the point where I was hoping they wouldn't distract the surgeon! Not sure they were laughing at my costume or the comments I was making! Whew! As if that wasn't enuff!...

...Listening to the radio playing "Put your hand in the hand of the man...♫" while I also hear the snip-snip-snipping of surgical steel scissors and feeling a tug at my wrist!

But for now, here I sit for a while (a LONG while!) saying hello to all of you and THANK YOU for your many thoughts, well-wishes, and humor! I shall return!

Eventually I'll have the use of two hands and ten fingers for talking at ya! Meanwhile, those of ya that ever wished Shoe would just hush-up...well, right now Ican meet ya halfway...one hand typing/pick-n-peck, holding down the shift key and stretching a finger miles across the keyboard to make a capitol letter or other shift key, sheesh!...it's like I'm muttering, not typing! And as slow as it is it's like I'm whispering. :>

Again, thanks! And keep smilin'!

N.C. Mts., NC(Zone 6b)

Glad you are back home and still have your humor.

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Bless your heart you tired ol' shoe, you! just type in lower case... most of us can cock an ear to hear your whispering. Hospitals really need to find some manlier outfits for you guys. My DH was wearing a lovely floral print hat with elastic and a ruffle when he went in for retinal surgery... a plaid tam with a pom pom would have been better!

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Nice to hear from you Shoe, sounds like you went through the hospital and left a trail of laughter. Hmmm, how about hospital gowns in camo? That seems to be pretty popular with the guys these days. And booties that make bear tracks. I suppose they would have to charge extra for the designer clothes.

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you're home and on the way to recovery.Best thoughts for a quick heal and success in the operations.I read somewhere there's a computer thing that you can talk to instead of typing.Glad I don't have it,the words I sometimes say to this machine shouldn't be repeated.

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Oh, Mary, I like the idea of camo gowns! Shoe could paint his posterior with camo for those peek-a-boo moments.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Good to see you, Shoe! Missed you! I don't know why they don't just go ahead and make those gowns in two versions: Mens and womens, anatomically correct each. They show so much, anyway, why not completely humiliate the folks subjected to wearing them? ;)

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

hi shoe, glad you are ok. I was hoping to see a snapshot of you in the prom dress reject.

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

ya know, i came really close to taking my camera!

bit it's okay...the memory is firmly etched into my mind!

Middle, TN(Zone 6b)

I have a mental picture of you etched in my mind's eye too and it is NOT a pretty sight!!!!! LOL! Sorry. I shouldn't pick on a sick person but the temptation was just too good to pass up. Ya owe me ONE!!!!

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

So glad all that cuttin is over for you and hope you are a fast healer - sorry this had to happen to you, I guess when you get to be our age, our parts just start to wear out. Glad there are good Dr's out there that can patch us up. I'll bet you'll be fine in a couple of months, just in time to plant them maters, squash etc.

Best wishes Shoe, we love you.

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Hey, if it takes too long to mend, just let me know, Shoe, and I'll dig out another snow bank and start your 'maters' for ya!

Bethelridge, KY(Zone 6a)

How in the world did I miss this? Thought you were too quiet. You takin care of yourself Shoe? Wish you a speedy recovery!
