In the fall of 04 I sent a coupon in to SILKIES for a free pair of panyhose, plus the cost of the stamp. I received the pantyhose and then about a month later I received a package w/ 2-3 more pairs of Silkies. I just assumed it was all part of a promo. Last week I received a "Past Due" bill ($14.95) for the 2nd package of Silkies that I did not request. I will call them but in the mean time any of you get this? I don't think I have used them so will ship them back but I don't want to pay the postage.
Silkies is after me
They have been doing this for years - you have to get quite snotty with them to get them to quit. You will probably get another lot next month even if you do send those back, or pay for them.
I'm not sure of the position here, I was in the UK when they plagued me, but there if you are sent unsolicited goods you are not obliged to pay for them, or return them at cost to yourself. You are obliged to make them available for collection at a reasonable time. It was only after I wrote to them in that vein and specified when and where they could collect that they finally gave up.
Lesson learnt :-there is no such thing as a free lunch, or pair of tights, in this world and if an offer seems too good to be true - it is!!
Yep, it's one of those outfits that sends you stuff and charges you for it until you tell them you don't want it. I remember when the big Silkies push was going on all over the web four or more years ago! In the promotions I saw, it was all there in the fine print. I tried them, but cancelled before any other shipments were sent, so that was that.

I never tried these because the fine print said I would be agreeing to further ships every so often until I cancelled.
Wasn't worth the hassle to me.
I am so sorry you got took buy what sounds like a really good deal.
It is like said above nothing is free.
If you have ever regestered at a mall to win a car that is sitting there. Well read the fine print. You usually are agreeing to visit a time share or something like that.
That is not worth it to me to thru the high pressure sales meeting.
They should not be able to do these fine print things.
Believe me I got hassled at time shares before we finally realized the gifts were not as we thought.
We won a 4 man fishing boat once....It was a blow up boat. What a joke.
good luck anastasia! I don't know if it was the DW or one of 4 DD's that sent the first request to Silkies. They finally got me involved and it took quite awhile and some heated communications to finally get those boneheads to cease and desist.
I sent for the same thing years ago. Didn't read the fine print, and when my free pair came, there were two more pair included that I was to pay for.
I sent the payment and wrote on the statement to cancel all future shipments. Never had a problem.
I liked the stockings so much though, that when I received another card several months later, I did the same thing and no hassle. I think the stockings wear like iron. ( And no, I don't work for the company, LOL)
You don't have to pay return shipping. Open packages delicately. If you get an unwanted shipment, you can re-seal the box and write REFUSED - RETURN TO SENDER in large letters on the package. If it contains free items owed you, remove them first and enclose a note which includes full contact information, then re-seal the package.

My postmaster makes me pay postage if he sees any hint the box has been opened. So do that opening VERY delicately. Legally you have to pay postage if it has been opened. On the other hand, legally you do not have to return it if you did not order it. He told me that too. It works to get them off your back too.
I like the stockings, too, and they do last a long time. However, I am retired now and I don't wear stockings except on Sundays. You do have the option of having them sent quarterly if you need the shipments spaced out more. That's what I do.
I did this too...and called them when I got the second shipment and asked them for a return shipment order...they told me to keep the stockings and cancelled my debt. Never received anymore..and I have plenty of unopened packages of stockings...different brands, cause I DON"T WEAR THEM..maybe I could trade them for "stuff". Jo
I never never sign up for anything but this seemed so innocent a promo. My kids use to sign up for everything at the county fair and I would start screaming with the phone calls for new windows, etc that would follow. there is no phone number on their invoice so will type up a letter and make it clear I retain a lawyer. look for my photo on your local post office wall soon.
You should be able to contact them via their website, Anastatia. Just request written confirmation be mailed to you in the US mail. http://www.silkies.com/faq.asp
thank you gardenwife. but what do you mean written confirmation? confirmation of what?
You can contact them via their website or e-mail and say you want to cancel your account with them, but you want them to send you written confirmation that the action's been taken. Then you have it on paper, and not just in a series of e-mails.
what would i do w/out you gw?
