which irises are you looking for, Jody?
My first attempt at purchased seed germination! SUCCESS
Japs and Bearded mostly anything that will grow in zone 5/6.Jody
Japanese Iris would problably be fine from seed, but I think the bearded might be best from root stock. Bearded iris are not very hardy here, although there are supposed to be some new varieties that are tougher. I've started some Japanese Iris from seed, but they are still to little to tell how they'll do or if they'll winter over this year. They were really small last year.
I'm sure your right about the root stock.
But since I have so much room to plant thought I might do a few rows of them.Hoping to get some different from the parents.Who knows maybe I'll get a special one.
I've also planted over 400 daylily seeds,so far, eople have been very generous.
I'm just winter sowing them in seedling trays. And storing them outside under the awning.I water them of course.
Gotta go stick my roses.Talk soon,Jody
These seedlings sure seem tall. Is this normal or did I leave them in the dark too long?
Opps hurry get them under lights. They will straighten out.Put the lights as low as you can without touching them. That should help.Weezingreen's is right put the lights on for about 16hrs.Jody
