Marking e-mails "unread" or "new"?

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Dave, would it be possible to re-flag a read e-mail message as "unread" or "new"? Often I receive DG mail, but for one reason or another can't respond right away. Without some sort of flagging mechanism, it's easy to forget. Surely I'm not alone in this. Is there a way we could flag e-mails, please?

Boy, are you ever not alone in this!
A "keep as new" would be wonderful!

I agree. Sometimes I worry that I'll forget to take care of something and someone will be offended.

Exactly! What spurred my writing this was the realization that I'd done just that, forgotten to respond to an e-mail. I didn't remember until I got a new message and happened to notice the old one in my inbox. The way the mail comes up as threads, I don't tend to go to the regular inbox, anyway. I usually read the incoming mail and, since there's usually only one, go directly back to my DG homepage. It was a fluke that I even looked at my inbox.

Me too...me too!

Ditto

Makes sense to me too, I've forgotten to respond to emails many times for the same reason.

The feature is finished!! Now, when you are reading an email, you can click on "Mark as unread" at the top and it'll mark it as New again.

Thanks Dave!! :D

Thanks so much!!!

Thank you so much, Dave!

Wonderful, Dave - thank you so much. :)

Dave, one more request regarding this...Would it be possible for the e-mails marked "unread" to appear back up top on the homepage and forums page as if they were new mail? Thanks. ;)

GW, I'd assumed that that's what will happen by marking it unread. I never thought it might not be the case...... Dave??

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I marked one "unread" and it does not show up on my DG homepage yet.

Yeah, Dave, what's up? (Pun intended)
I second ceedub and GW.

To have it marked "Yes" as new in the mail page is an great improvement, but it's not a reminder like I was thinking. I should have been more specific in my request. Sorry about that! :)

That's how it's working for me. If I click on "Mark as unread", it returns me to the inbox and the email is marked as new.

If I then return to the homepage (without opening that mail again) then it shows up on the homepage.

Dave

Oops, I indeed did make an error, but it has now been fixed. Please go back and remark those messages as unread and now it will show up correctly on the homepage again.

best,
dave

Thanks again Dave!
Happy Friday!

This is the greatest thing since sliced bread!! Now everyone won't think I'm an inconsiderate clod for not responding!! Seriously, I've failed to respond to 4 or 5 in the last month. I started leaving the mail I needed to respond to open in a tab in my browser but that only worked as long as my computer didn't crash or reboot from the power going out from ice storms.

THANKS, DAVE!

LOL, Langbr - that's what I say! Thanks for fixing the notification bug. It works great now. Would this work for any thread, or is the e-mail a separate module?

Email is completely separate (even though they act so similar!)

Brenda I wondered why you never answered. LOL
Great idea and thanks Dave. My problem was keeping Bobbie off of Dave's. She would go in and when there was email I would never know it. I guess I gonna have to spring for her a subscription so she can play in her name and not mine.

For me the new feature only works with new mail, and none from before 2005.
I appreciate it anyway very much.

Thanks Dave. That is just great.

Thanks for the report, Ulrich. Please try again now.
