Request for feature in the Recipes Forum

Marshfield, MO(Zone 6a)

It would be nice if in the recipes forum there was a link to view a printer friendly version of a post in order to print out recipes without having to print all the other comments in that thread, etc.

I just noticed on the feature request thread that you do have a print on the top of each thread, but in my opinion it would be better to print an individual post intead of a whole thread when dealing with recipes, etc.

That would be nice, I agree.

What I've been doing now is highlighting the recipe and then pasting it in a wordprocessing program. Then I add any of the comments that I want to keep with the recipe, along with the name of the person who posted it.

I print recipes by highlighting the one I want and chosing "Print Selection Only". Maybe that isn't a choice that all printers give though, I don't know.

I also highlight the recipe I want to print and paste it into Word. Then I can "mess with it"---Make headings bold, highlight important comments, correct spelling errors (often there are many!), and space the given lines as I wish. ( I have started a whole binder with recipes from DG).
Then I print it! The Daves garden Cookbook (of a few years ago) gave the option to print out each recipe. I liked that! Here's the link to that: Lots of good stuff in there!!!!! Enjoy!!!!

Hey, Shirley, thanks, I didn't even know mine had that feature.

You're welcome Mary.

I do the same as Brugie.

My collection is getting too large now ( 3 big binders) , so after pasting it in word I save it to a floppy.

I have categories written on each floppy disc.

Set the view to 'list' instead of thumbnails and it's easy to find what you are looking for.

But there still is nothing like sitting on the sofa with a cup of joe and thumbing thru the stained pages of an old cookbook.

Me too, I love cookbooks, as many as I have you would think I would try the recipes more often, lol. I get the Southern Living annual and the BHG annual, and I do love thumbing through those also. I still have my mothers old 1930 something BHG cookbook, they didn't even have the red check cover then, this one has an old blue cover.

I use the "selection" system too...but think I should do as Gitagal does...and "mess" with it...makes it pretty! Jo
