NEW unnamed plants in existance

Oro Valley, AZ(Zone 9a)

Is there - or will there be - a forum or Plant File for photos of:
Unintroduced; waiting to be introduced (or never to be introduced and sold) seedlings (newly created plants); that are not yet, and may never be on the market? (varities or plants germinated that ONLY exist in someone's backyard, or nursery).

This would be for those who grow and hybridize/cross and germinate NEW irises, dayliliies, hostas, and possibly other plants whose seeds create NEW colors/patterns/forms/sub-species, etc. that exist no where else on the planet. (Possibly mutations, or "sports" that develop into a new plant would fall under this too.)

NOTE: This would NOT be for plants that reproduce themselves identically through seeds or other methods..

Are there any other fellow gardeners that would be interested in seeing what is brand NEW (never before seen) in the world of plants?

This is something we've seen pop up occasionally in the (former) PDB and as a policy, we remove unnamed seedlings since the PF is intended to be a reliable repository of known plant data.

At this time, I don't know that there's any movement afoot to create a database for unnamed seedlings - it sounds interesting, but it also sounds like something that could get out of hand pretty fast ;o)

I see your point Terry.

You are right that some of these newly developed plants are quite interesting - some are taking plants in a whole new direction, a whole new frontier! Maybe someday - a place can be developed for these when it's certain it won't get out of hand.

Thanks for the info,
Margie
