Gee I left Florida for a trip to VA & this is what I found LOL .. this is the 2nd snow since I got here the 16th.
I left Florida for this? It is still snowing so I am house bound a few days as not many people here drive when it snows. It is cold where I live in FL but not white. I love snow but enough is enough..I have places to go. I'm not sure how big this pix is as my son uses a different resulution than I do & I don't make changes on other people's puters.

Wow - my son just went to VA last week and he was surprised at how chilly it was. He keeps telling me its about the same as here - it's not so hard to believe after seeing a picture.

I read a short article on Netscape the other day about the 10 best places to live and 2 cities in VA were on the list :)

Sugar, your picture size is just fine. Cold is cold, whether white or not, LOL. It will soon be gone, hopefully.

The snow has stopped.. I hope for good.
I like snow but only here for a short time & don't want to be house bound..
Cheryl I am in the Norfolk area now.. I lived here for 47 years but doubt I ever move back here. This area isn't prepared for this kinda snow. There is seldom this much snow.
This was taken just as it stopped.

Sugar, my brother and SIL were in VA Beach quite a few years ago (late 70's) when they had a freak 3 feet of snow. She went into labor and the National Guard sent a half-track tank out to fetch her because nothing else could move. She delivered a fine healthy baby boy in the tank on the way to the hospital.

Wow Darius, born in a tank in a snowstorm is pretty special. Is his name 'Sherman' by any chance? Is that a pun ? or merely weird humor.Hope your Christmas dinner was special too.We had two friends over for the ubiquitous turkey and stuffing.Made cranbery sauce with a dab of orange zest and Gran Marnier,Mary brought a wonderful layered cranberry-cream cheese salad topped with whipped cream and chopped pecans, and chocolate pots de creme. Some 2003 Argyle pinot noir from the Willamet Valley went well,as did a wee dram of 17 year old Glengoyne single malt.Wish you could have been here tyo enjoy it with us.Best wishes for a happy and enjoyable New Year.

Robert, my brother called him "Tank" for over a year until his wife put a stop to it, LOL.

Cranberry sauce is always better with a touch of Grand Marnier... and I'm sure the "wee dram of 17 year old Glengoyne single malt" was appropriate and equally wonderful. I settled for a spot of Bushmills.

Surry, VA(Zone 7b)

Sugar_fl, if you lived in the Norfolk area for 47 years you definitely know this is not the norm for this area during the holiday season. I'm really sorry it ruined some of your travel plans since you now live out of state, but if you are going to be here for a few more days it is predicted to be in the low 60's at the end of the week. That's one of great things about living in the Tidewater Area - the times we do get snow it melts fairly quick. ;o)

carol where are U? I am in Suffolk. I know this is not normal... the only other snow I remember before Jan 1 was a light snow about 15 years or so ago. I have been stuck in the house more or less alone for 3 days & probably tomorrow too. At least I am warm with plenty to eat (too much) A lot of people can't say that.
I came to Suffolk in 1953 & moved to FL in 2000.
The flight here was fine. I sure hope the flight home goes smooth too. I leave Jan 8 but may change my reservations & stay another week. I have to decide before the 1st or will will cost me $50 more to change it.. Already cost $50 to change it now.

Surry, VA(Zone 7b)

Sugar_fl, I live just up Rt 10 from you in Surry County. What part of Suffolk are you in? Before we bought our home in Surry we had looked at property in the rural areas of Suffolk. Suffolk has been growing steadily and I can only imagine what it was like when you first moved there. I first moved to Smithfield 10 years ago and it has already changed so much. While you are in the area would you like to meet somewhere for lunch one day? I'd love to meet you if you have any free time. Carol

montgomery, AL(Zone 7b)

Carol I live in the downtown area, Not far from the McDonalds on Main Street . Give me your E-mail & I'll send U how to get to me. I have a problem that I don't drive & my son doesn't either. You can send it to d.bryant@charter.net
I would love to meet U for lunch somewhere. I will be here for another 2 weeks. I fly back on the 15th out of Norfolk.
YES Suffolk has really changed since 1953. Downtown was very busy then with no malls. It was 2 squares miles then & over 400 now. My Husband was a police officer & that sure was a big change for them. Today is the 13 anniversary of his death. I lost my 2nd husband in July while on vacation in Alaska.
