Website for Sailors - Tell Me A Story

(Zone 5b)

My son just left for the fleet today, and now I have some catching up to do on the website for sailors and I need all the help I can get. Sailors really seem to love stories so I've made a new forum just for stories. Does anyone have any to share with them? I don't know how much posting they can do, but I know they'd enjoy reading about us. Heck, there was a point when my son even asked how my garden was doing just for the conversation and thoughts of home!

I'll take them any way I can get them - either post on the website forum at http://www.keystonesailors.com/forum/, or e-mail it to me or post here and I'll get it posted (just let me know if you want your username included or not).

And, I recognized a couple of new names. Thank you to all who visited the site from here!

check your link - wouldn't work for me, pretty please? :)

Crossville, TN

Didn't work for me either. Jo

(Zone 5b)

Me either but it's the right address. I copied and pasted from the Address line but if I just type it, it automatically turns into a link.

Please try this one and click forum from the link toward the top of the page.

Neat site...and since I have a DGD in the Navy...I joined. Thanks! Jo

Thanks! I'd love to hear any suggestions for improvements or forum ideas - I'm kinda clumsy at this.

I spent 4 years in the Navy during Vietnam.
An experience I'll never forget.
It makes a boy into a man very quickly.
I don't regret it one bit.

Cheryl,

Are you the Webmaster of this site??

Judy

(Zone 5b)

No. I was looking for a site that would let me send care packages to troops for the holiday and I came across this one. It just happened to need an admin for the forum and I volunteered.

Wonderful!!! I sent you an email so anything I can help you with please do not hesitate to ask. I rescue dogs, cats and some time a person... so if you think some of these stories would be what you are looking to add, just let me know.

Wow - I'm peeking in at work so I can only spare a minute here and there. I'll be able to pay closer attention later. I think pets is a GREAT subject - probably can do a couple of fun polls about them too and get a couple comments if we're lucky. See? I just don't think of this stuff by myself

Judy, I posted two of your stories and have had a couple of comments from people who really enjoyed them. Thank you so very much!

Hi Cheryl,
Has he been in for awhile?
just graduated from Great Lakes RTC?
"going to the fleet" - What ship or is he pulling shore duty at one of the Naval Stations?

Curious since I did 20 years in the Navy (retired 7-97).
If your son has been in for awhile or is on a ship now, ask him if he knows the difference between a "Sea story" and a 'Fairly Tale'.

(Zone 5b)

20 years - blessyourheart !!! My dad couldn't wait to get out and now he misses it - go figure.

My son just left Great Lakes after RTC and "school" so it hasn't been long. Now he's an HT assigned to a ship in VA. It was SO nice being close enough to visit regularly. One of my favorite things was when he told stories about what he did because he made them so funny. Like his reactions to some things, and what happened while he was sick. They weren't so hilarious when they happened (I still remember the calls from RTC), but they still make me chuckle because of the way he told them. I'll ask him about Sea Stories and Fairy Tales - now I'm REALLY curious !
