Troops in the Middle East, Part 3

Au Gres, MI(Zone 5a)

Hi Everyone.......Got a 4 page letter from one of the 5 soldiers I sent packages to. I will share it with ya'all

"Mr.& Mrs. Jacobs
I can't express how much I appreciate the package you sent, its pretty rough out here being away from home so long, especially during the holidays. The reassurance that our people back home are thinking of us reminds us of our purpose in this war.

I am writting this letter sittin in a hummvee near Al Dhaha Ais, which is a camp around 800 miles south of Bagdad. Shafa is considered one of our "safe haven" locations where other troops like myself from around the mid east come to re-cooporate and relax for a while before heading back up north. It's really hard up north. Soldiers and marines are really tired and everytime it seems like the fighting calms down, another bomb explodes or someone gets captured.

I am stationed out of Florida, but originally from California, this is my second tour to the desert. I spent 9 months in Saudi Arabia and been to Kuwait since late 2002. I'm schduled to go back home in March, I'm looking forward to seeing my family since it's been forever since the last time I was home. Well I should get back to duty. Again I appreciate everything you sent. Your place is beautiful and your dogs are great. We do have email access so feel free to write or email me anytime.

It's fairly strict here as far as Mailing thing out or using satatlite phones. I can email you pictures of us out here. Thanks again for your support, you are also in our prayers.

Sincerely

Jason Tyre

Patrolman/Gunner

****Since Jason included his email address....I sent off a email to him and got a response the same day...just a few hours after I sent mine....****

Hey,

Well, I got it! It is pretty busy out here doing what needs to be done. Its almost that time we begin to wrap it up and get home so a lot of the soldiers are becoming excited. I don’t have much time to write because there’s other GI’s who have to check their email as well and we’re limited to how many computers have email access, for security reasons.. Melbourne??! I’m stationed at Patrick AFB, in Cocoa Beach… right outside of Melbourne. That’s interesting.. well I’d better get going.. thanks for the email and the link.. email me anytime.

Jason

Fantastic!
Nesbitt said he's started mailing stuff back to his base in CA. So far it looks like their unit will get to roll out on schedule, sometime in March. The last 30 days takes longer than the first 5 months.

That is great.

One of my soldiers was stationed near St. Louis, Mo....and now this one is stationed at Cocoa Beach....I would have thought they were mostly from the same base in the USA. No matter...just glad they are getting to come home soon. Jo

I sent 4 Valentine boxes to my soldiers, hopefully they'll get them before Monday. I emailed Joshua to let him know that they were on the way and he emailed back in about 10 minutes...he must have been sitting there. He says that he has about a month to go and can't wait to see his fiancee.

I included paper and snail-mail address but forgot my email addy. duh me! That's okay, I'm sure it was appreciated!

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

kooger we can pout together. :0) I had planned on sending more stuff out, but was afraid to with not knowing if the original box got to there or not. I sent a bunch of boxes out to names from anysoldier dot com at the same time I sent this one out, I'm really afraid that none of the packages got where they were supposed to go. :-( I included paper, envelopes, pre-stamped postcards and my email address.

Don't give up. I didn't hear till 2/17. I sent out 4 or 5 boxes and I have heard from 2 soldiers now. Between them being busy and the mail system, it takes awhile.

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Yeah, I agree and understand. I'm okay without hearing, just feel the need to pout once in awhile and be jealous of you guys that got replies. Joining me on the pouting bench, Melissa? lol (they always say misery loves company!!)

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

LOL Kooger, I'm ok with not hearing back from them either, as long as they got it, I'm happy. I just hesitate to send anything else without knowing for sure that they got the first package.

Maben, MS(Zone 7b)

I have not heard from my soldier either like others just wondering if he received it.

I still have one that I haven't heard from. The guy soldier emailed me right away. Not a big deal to me. I felt good doing my part.
