This is the 3rd time in about a year that Fed Ex seems to not be able to deliver to my house. Many other folks in my area have the same problem. I ordered liquid soap for some Christmas projects and they were shipped the 8th; still not here. Someone called and said they couldn't find us and gave us their number (on our answering machine) to call back. Well we got a very elderly lady instead. We double-checked the phone message and sure 'nuff, we had the right number. Tried it again with the same results.
I had a hard time even getting Fed Ex's toll-free number and then the menu was so long and complicated that it was unusuable. Had to call a Post Net store and ask for their help. They finally got the toll-free number and said to immediately push 0 to get a live person. I gave that person directions to our house, but after 2 days, still no show.
Everyone in my area has this problem with them. They even left one package with a neighbor this past summer, live plants I might add, and the driver said he was "running behind." In fact, I'm not sure they have EVER made it to my house. What's your experience?
shipping problelms
It depends upon the driver, call and complain, complain, complain otherwise they won't know he isn't doing his job.
Judy
PS We get great service and we're way out in the country.
i dont get ups or fedex where i am at. i have to go into town 30 miles away to pick up a package through them. they just wont come out here.
i hate it too. i had a ebay buy i had paid for and sent money come to find out ups wont come out here. sent plants back to owner. the owner was so nice and sent usps.
but i think its wrong not to deliever out her. its crazy. i have complained and it does help but yet it doesnt. good luck with this issue.
Judy is right complain like heck you may have to go to their office. after a week they send it back.
FedEx does okay for me here in San Antonio, but when I have used them to ship items to my brother on our farm (on a paved road near a small town, and identified with a regular street address on a map) they can't find it. We've even arranged to have them drop off packages at the general store for him to pick up, and twice they never showed - the merchandise went back to the shipper. UPS does much better for him - he orders and receives parts for his antique tractors frequently. I haven't made a complete comparison, but I believe FedEx rates are also higher.
When I lived in Asheville, getting FedEx delivery was easy but UPS was a nightmare. For every delivery (and only after 2-3 days of not finding me) they'd call for directions. Mind you, I was 2 blocks off the main street through town and almost downtown!
I finally got angry and got a supervisor to put the delivery directions under my name in their delivery database. No more problems after that.
UPS finds me just fine here out in the country, and I doubt I am any more remote than you, woodspirit.
Well, it does sound like the driver from all of your remarks. The items I ordered were from Bramble Berry which has liquid soap for making your own soaps. I complained to them and they said they rarely had trouble with Fed Ex and the cost was better for them.
I just might complain to Fed Ex about this driver if I can get in touch with them, lol.
There's a big FedEx office/delivery depot in Asheville, off Airport road. Your driver no doubt comes out of there.
When you do get in touch with a Supervisor, remind him/her that the FedEx delivery charges are for delivery NOT drop-offs.
yeah, that's where he comes out of. I was going to call them but they gave me the wrong number when I contacted Fed Ex through their toll-free number.
We never have delivery problems with either company but have to run to Sioux Falls to send things by FedEx. UPS gets picked up in town at the hardware store. We sold some car parts on ebay and shipped them by FedEx because it was considerably cheaper. (If we want to run to Sioux Falls for shopping anyway.)
