Does anyone know what minera soil is? Where I might buy a small quantity?
Can I Buy Mineral Soil??
Where did you hear of it? That might help in this quere. Sidney
With regards to growing redwood seeds to trees.
Redwood seeds do not require pretreatment to germinate. Germination is
epigeal; the best seedbed is moist mineral soil with some shade
mineral soil
A soil consisting predominantly of, and having its properties determined predominantly by, mineral matter. It contains less than 17% organic carbon except for an organic surface layer that may be up to 40 cm (16 inches) thick if formed of mixed peat (bulk density 0.1 or more) or 60 cm (24 inches) if of fibric moss peat (bulk density less than 0.1).
Doing a search I came across this site. They have a list of retailers also that sell their 'product'. I've never used it so can give any personal info on it.

I didn't know that you could grow redwoods in your area. I believe that they require a very selective climate and habitat. We have here, a very alkaline soil of decomposed granite with shallow root system with all of our rainfall coming in the winter. Is Minera a trade name?? I will keep my eye open next time I am up in the Sequoia's. They have many nurseries in the area around Porterville that sells seedlings. Good luck.
I bought the seeds online and thought I'd give it a shot inside in winter and maybe outside in summer.
I was hoping to keep as an ornimental plant inside till it got too bid, then if all worked out maybe sell or cut to make wooden gifts... Just playing around. The acidity I can do myself, but the mineral-like soil was to be created using the "mineral soil" such as the site richearth.com has created, (thanks Horseshoe for the link!).
Go for it, kayaker!
Sounds like it would be a great project! Have fun!
