Diana,
Your Dec-14 birthday is just on the way.Wonder how you elders there celebrate your special days?In China,an elder 's birthday of 65,73 and 84 is regarded as especially important.Big family will gather together and have a noon banquet.Among the delicious dishes,the big red-tailed carp fish is a necessity.It symbolizes that after eating it up the elder would have jumped over all the transgressions and from that monent on he or she would live a long long life.

Well Jianhua, there are many ways to spend their Birthdays...Kids..have party's most every year..Then, even when they grow. There is most always something special that happens that day. When my kids were growning up...In teen years...and even after that..If I were having them for dinner, they would tell me their favorite thing to have to eat. I would make a special cake...for them...candles would always be on the cake..for them to blow them out. and make a wish...Hehehe...Some family, do this every year. Even after growing up. Heheh Me? well, if the weather holds...and there is no snow...My day...will be...Breakfast out....then shopping...most of the day...then Dinner out...hehehe..Our kids live farther away...so they will not come..but at night I am sure I will hear...the phone ring..to wish me a Happy Birthday....Being a elder...hehe it is not really special anymore. Just another day...really....Having a December Birthday, it can always change. Snow....it will happen the day after..hehehe...Ah, Eating a Red Carp. Maybe we would eat Salmon...that is red. lol...Then I could benifit...from that...Who knows...Thanks for sharing what China does...Maybe someone else...here in DG does it different....Post and tell us....I would enjoy hearing it... smiles....Diana
