Mite be a repeat: Are 'sticky note' options available ...

NW Qtr, AR(Zone 6a)

This question and/or suggestion may have already been submitted to the DG administration - but, am inquiring anyway . . . .

Can 'sticky notes' be considered an option for use and implementation, to our own 'Watched Threads' ?

The specific reason that I inquire and request for such .. is the fact that it sure seems that it would give us subscribers a much needed aid .. in immediately 'flagging' a particularly interesting piece of info related to particular threads! (Ex: those threads that lend most wonderful 'how to' (and 'how NOT to') info!)

My own 'watched' threads list (as I'm sure many will agree applies to theirs) .. does little to dissuade my fervent interest to look at any (rather, try to 'keep up' with) .. newer/recent subjects and threads!

Many of our 'Watched Threads' are already far too wonderfully lengthy, and there's jes simply no way that I'd desire to shorten the list! .. hee .. Matter of fact: I find myself adding a multitude .. daily!!

And to lend immediate access to certain items/info that has/is provided by other DG'ers - would surely be a most valuable addition to our refraining from constantly searching for such - in any of each of our 'watched threads' . . . .

Yep, I'mma askin' fer da moon again, haint I .. ? .. hee
(It sho' never hurts to dream tho', 'ey?)

... Now, I do know it's the holidays ...

However . . is there any specific DG administrators .. that will kindly give some general acknowledgement .. to this particular threads' inquiry ?

Heck, I'd even accept and settle fer .. a good 'who cares' - but, from Dave & immediate 'crew' only - but
mercy me folks - tell me somethin', pray tell! .. lol ..

There's also been a specific email .. of which, the last contact, from you guys .. was back on .. Wed, 10 Nov 2004 11:19:01 -0500 ... Shall I continue to bide my time, accordingly .. ?

Beginning to feel like the proverbial 'weed' ... of which there are a couply or more dozen 'renditions' of definitions in Garden Terms.

Well, jes go on .. and yank me outta the ground, will ya .. and chunk me in the compost pile also. But, I gotta warn ye: I sure nuff haint gonna be a goin' willingly none tho' !! .. lol ..

I certainly don't mean to be 'kudzu' here ... but, the good Lord had His reasons for creating [its] placement upon this ol earth ...

Thanks,
Magpye

I have been out of pocket - traveling for roughly 10 days. As far as I know this option is not yet avaiable, nor do I have any inkling if Dave has plans to add this feature. No weeding here....too cold still! (Although later in the week the weather forecast is looking much nicer ;o)

I really like the idea, too. There are some great threads I'd like to have access to, but I may not need them until next year. I know I can always start a new thread with "Does anyone remember..." or I can do a search, but the search is so lengthy, especially when I can't remember the title or extremely pertinent words. Maybe I just don't know how to "bookmark" a particular thread to my home page. Is this even an option?

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

I don't think "titles" are used by the Search Function period.

Hmmm...Ya'll could easily save a thread to your "Links". That way it would always be there and available with a simple click.

Sure sounds much more convenient to me.

I agree with you, Shoe. If you put a folder on your favorites/bookmarks toolbar, you can just drag favorite URL's into that folder and they're always handy. This is the DG folder on my toolbar (I've renamed the bookmarks to names that make sense to me):

Thanks folks ..

I, and surely, many others .. have long known about link 'favorites' and 'bookmarking' ...

I'd sorta concentrated on a body being able to stay within DG.com .. in using the [*possible*] sticky notes accordingly. Not necessarily pulling up new menus and opening several windows, and/or tabs either.

When we put a 'post it' note up on something .. we usually intend to put it where it is most visible ... possibly eliminating the need for any additional menus.

No doubt you know about it, Magpye. But others might not have thought of it.

Tis true gw, no doubt .. but I was simply attempting to get the subject back to the threads' initial inquiry ...

This is probably a silly question(and a few others will probably want it asked) ,but, what are sticky notes?
Is it the computerised version of Post it notes

Very close, Ash! :)

A sticky thread (or note) in Forums is one that is 'stuck' at the top of the list, regardless of how recently it was posted to. You will find an example of one in the Recipes Forum; the option is sparingly used by our administrators for important/current topics.

Hope that helps a bit!
Donna

Personalized sticky notes would really be a cool feature, but technically it is not an easy thing to create. The forum system just wasn't designed to do that, and shoe-horning this feature in would result in a feature that isn't up to my normal standards.

I'm probably going to revamp our forum system sometime during 2005 and this feature could very well be a part of that, but this is long-term stuff.
