My son called me this evening and wanted me to come eat alligator with them. Some one had brougt it to him at work. I have to add that it was the first time for them. I had just returned from Taco Bell so I wasn't hungry but I went for the visit anyway. My grandson just kept eating that alligator meat. I bet he had 5-6 servings. He kept saying I love chicken. I thought about you and wanted to share this little story. Maybe the cajun wore off on him at the roundup.

Lisa could make the "Cajun wear off on" anyone!!

My DD ate Ground Hog at her G'ma when she was about 5....loved it...thought it was chicken...after we told her what it was, she said "I didn't like it anyhow"...after she had eaten seconds....LOL

I've eated 'gator and liked it... also wild boar, buffalo, sea turtle, squirrel, rabbit, wild duck, venison, squid, octopus... almost anything I can think of except rattlesnake. Probably just never had the opportunity for rattlesnake.

I think I might like to try 'gater. At least once. If it was tender and tasted like chicken I would love it. I could eat chicken every day. I use to boil a whole chicken with onions, garlic, carrots, and celery and just pick off pieces of meat during the day. By the end of the day I would have eaten most of a good size chicken!I I ate some of the veggies too, but mostly the meat.

Hi there Mr. Jim!
Sorry not to answer you sooner, I just stumbled across this thread today! I am glad to see your son enjoyed 'gator. I love it, good stuff. I've eaten it fried, bbq'd and in a sauce piquante'..Gator is kinda a tricky thing..if you've ever eaten a bad chunk, you most likely will never be brave enough to put it in your mouth again. It needs to be cleaned properly to taste good, one sliver of fat left behind can ruin the whole meal.
I miss not having my freezer stocked with it. Ever since dad died, I don't have my steady supply of fresh gator meat.

I ate rattlesnake meat once. It was pretty good. But a few hours later, my spousal unit and I got sick to our stomachs. Never figured it out as we didn't ingest any poison. I like game, too, very low fat and no antibiotics and streroids.

I'll go with raw oysters and deep fried pig skin, but that is as wild as I get.

(And please don't anyone electure me on eating the oysters raw.)

Frogs legs are good!

Frog legs taste like chicken! (But better for you that chicken raised on hormones in an 8" cage.)

I think I'll stick to chicken fried steak.................won't eat nothing that crawls, walks or swims raw!!
