Am I just late in noticing this?

Even if I am - it's just GREAT!

I was just looking at a photo in the PDB and noticed that there was a notification that "one vendor has this on sale".

Wow! What a super feature - it took me right to the vendor :) Love It :)

It's been there a while; you obviously finally came across an entry that a vendor has listed.

Dea, here's a link directly to this new feature: http://davesgarden.com/ps/

And with more than 10,000 plants offered by participating vendors, you're bound to "stumble" over more of them as you browse through the PDB.

Why thanks Terry :)

What can members do to perhaps encourage on-line vendors to become a part of PlantScout?

Anytime you are in communication with any mailorder gardening company, mention PlantScout! An easy way to direct them there is http://www.plantscout.com/ Let them know that you think it's an excellent marketing channel for their company!

As to Smiln's question - the best thing each person here can do is to look for your favorite vendor in the list, then...

a) if they've signed up, let them know you're glad they did
b) if they haven't yet signed up, email them and encourage them to sign up.

A few of vendors joined as the direct result of being asked by a customer, so don't underestimate your power of persuasion.

I'm currently in the midst of sending out press releases to every garden writer, gardening magazine editor, and other gardening media folks to let them know about PlantScout. So far we've contacted ~200 writers and editors.

This effort has two purposes- one is to get the word out so more customers will seek and use the free service (and help participating vendors get maximum exposure for their investment); and secondly to increase awareness and establish this "brand" with vendors who may be wondering if PlantScout is a good use of their marketing dollars - the more they hear and see of it, the easier it is to persuade them to sign up.

Thanks again Terry :) I knew about PlantScout and directed one vendor there although he hasn't taken advantage of it yet :(

What I hadn't seen was the set of eyeballs in PDB directing me then to PlantScout....which tells me....I don't spend enough time in PDB !!!

Hoping these press releases are well received and help get this great benefit out there :)
