Trading Page Help

Crossville, TN(Zone 6b)

I have been adding links under Entries so that others can see the image or info needed for that particular plant when they click on VIEW.
While looking at someone's trade list I noticed that you could click on the Entry Name and go right to the information page. How did they do that?

Can you give an example of one that has a clickable cultivar/item name? I don't think I've ever seen anyone's trade list that had a clickable cultivar/genus name.

Huh!! I've never seen that before!! I'm not sure how Donna did that. You might email her and ask. I'd be interested in hearing the answer though.

I'm not sure, as I've never done it, but when you scoll to the bottom of the page, of the coneflower, it says add to trade list. Would that be the link?

I'm a code writer from waaay back and it only seemed natural to have a link on my trades list.... So I simply added the code before and after the plant name to accomplish the link.

One problem though, if you ever need to go back and edit the entry you have to re-do the entire "What is the name of this entry?" code. For some reason it gets trashed when you edit the original entry.

For those that don't know what the code would be here is the code for the 'Silky Gold' entry on my trade list :

[a href="http://plantsdatabase.com/go/53105/"]'Silky Gold' Butterfly Weed, Yellow Blood Flower[/a]

To make this work for you:

1) copy the above line onto the "What is the name of this entry?" line of your entry
2) change "'Silky Gold' Butterfly Weed, Yellow Blood Flower" to YOUR PLANTS name
3) change the page URL to YOUR PLANTS URL at 'The Plants Database'
4) change all the [ ] to 'greater' or 'lesser' signs. (The . and , keys)

That's all it takes.

We were talking about something else and when I mentioned it she added:
And the way I did the link was via html code when I entered the name.

She is getting ready to do a coop and did not want to take up her time so I decided to investigate for myself. I did not realize it was different tan what others have done. I will ask her if I don't hear from anyone.

Kooger: No, that is the way I normally add to my plant list. This is something different.

And Donna to the rescue.....I figured she was doing some HTML magic.
