A tour of my backyard.

I started in one corner and worked my way around. There are a few sections missing, but it's nothing but fence and grass. Please excuse the grass, it can be mowed for hay soon if it doesn't quit raining so I can get it mowed. It's rained the last two weekends.
This is beside my patio and we will go clockwise around the yard from here. This has a white clitoria vine, banana, lemon eucalyptus, double peach brug, jatropha, angelonia, cape honeysuckle, a pink tree that I forgot the name but it's something like woods lilac, and a shredded white brug.

Next is Ponderosa lemon, red porterweed, ast brugs, Snow Queen Hibiscus, Dutchman's pipe, some coleus, a duranta and ears that didn't show up good in the pics.

Next we have Morning Glory bush, ears, coleus, a Chinese Yellow banana, evergreen wisteria, ast brugs,

Continuing on around there are more coleus, dwarf cannas, red leaf hibiscus, brugs, castor bean tree, yesterday-today-tomorrow, hibiscus and another Dutchman's pipe mixed in with jasmine molle.

There is a section of fence that only has gardens on the outside and then this starts the next set of gardens.

cala, does that red hibiscus die for you in winter? how long have you had? growth rate?

This is a corner garden with brugs, ears, coleus, a variegated lemon, double pink hibiscus from Mel, a butterfly type bush from Hummer, bamboo iris, some jasmines, other stuff I can't remember.....

I just got the red hibiscus this summer. It's still blooming. It grew very slowly at first, then grew about 24 inches and hasn't grown much since.
Here is the next section, white pandorea, ast bananas, cannas, coleus, ears, a big jatropha tree. The ficus and palms were already there, so I worked around them. There are passifloras on the back fence and a snail vine.

This is looking up from the jatropha(see the flowers in the lower left corner?). There is another castor bean, ast bananas, coleus, ears, cannas and a brug or two with jasmine vines on the posts.

This is looking back from the underground utility box and a double blue clitoria vine back to where the previous pic was taken.

Everything is beautiful Susie. I wish everyone could see the size of your yard ........it's so hugh. You work full time and I don't know how you keep it looking so pretty. Your back yard is like a paradise and there is nothing like being in the pool and having all of it surround you. Can't wait to come back.......but no Mexico trip!

Island bed(with doggie tail in pic, he follows me around everywhere). This has that plant from the ID forum(I've done forgotten it's name), a little live oak, cannas, brugs, Meyer lemon, hibiscus scizopetalus, morning glory bush, a passiflora, pride of Barbados, Brazillian red cloak,

Very pretty pics! Makes me wish I lived in a warmer climate, to be able to have so many tropicals. I have to put mine in containers, and then the hauling around can be overwhelming.

Ah Frannie I've made friends with a taxi driver who said he would drive us to Monterey!! I'm trying to remember the square footage from the back yard and I've forgotten. I think it's 25,000 or pretty close to that.
Here is the other side of the island bed. I only got half of it mulched before the rain.

I know mine would look better if I'd leave them alone, but I keep moving them around! Here is the upper corner, you can see this area isn't finished. There are little huisache seedlings everywhere in that area and they have terrible thorns. I hate those trees!
The propane tank is for the pool heater.

Now the circle is complete, you've been all around the fence. Here is the ugly area that hides the pool equipement, filters and heaters. The passiflora is Lady Margaret and the other vine is Blue Sky vine. There's also jasmine, honeysuckle and jessamine in there somewhere. I missed a section of fence that has a lavender allamanda and a tacoma stans and the front gate.

The next few pics will show the rest of the back yard. I'll start in the corner with the propane tank and go right. The tree behind the tank and it has no leaves is a mulberry. The birds love it.

Center section, here is the Ice Cream banana that has bananas.

You have a pool heater? LOL. In your climate, you must all be wusses. So tell us how much you miss Tennessee! LOL Just lovely!

Next has the purple sugar cane which looks ratty now after the winds, and behind that phoenix robelinii(spelling) palm is the dwarf cavendish banana that has baby bananas.

We haven't used the heater yet Kell. No matter how warm the water is when you step out of the pool and it's a 35mph NE wind ain't nothing gonna keep you warm! Here is the last pic. I'll try to remember a pic of the clitoria when I go home. I promise pics, then forget to take them! I took some of the front, but know y'all are tired of seeing my gardens for now! I will put the promised resaca pic on the Texas forum as promised.

There is no such thing of too many pictures of wonderful plants and a very pretty yard.

Susie, everything looks beautiful!! Here I sit in zone 6, have already seen a few snowflakes, looking at these pics with my tongue hanging out!! All your hard work is sure paying off.

Gosh Susie, it looks wonderful. Does Bill still mow the yard? Hope you have a rider. Awesome looking plants.

Robin, it is hay. I try to get salt hay when I can find it, but lawn mower hay works too! I just have to remember to add nitrogen from time to time because as the hay breaks down it uses up the nitrogen(then gives it back to the soil as it decomposes).
Chele, come on down. We had a cool spell and it got down to 50 one night, but it was back up to 80 today.
Brugie, Bill mows when he's home, but sometimes I have to mow. We have a riding mower but it still takes all day to mow it all. Part of that is my fault, it slows me down to go around the trees and flower beds and make them neat. I'm terrible with corners too and have changed the shape of a couple of beds to make them easier to mow around.

Susie your yard looks beautiful. You have so much room. When you get a chance do you have a closeup of the variegated lemon to post. Was looking at way at Waysides, that looks pretty cool.

You have the most beautiful yard, my zone 6 yard is froze. I hate this time of year. But my computer room is looking good. I have brugs, 3 different kinds of hibiscus and three different kinds of EE's growing oh yea I have a pregnant onion and starting in Jan. I will be planting hibiscus seeds and hoping to start some of them. Can't wait until the end of April.

You have a huge yard Cala! Everything looks great! I dunno what I would do if I had that much space... I would need to take out a loan to do my usual spring redoing/expansions lol.

Thanks all, it was lots of work and yes, I need a loan to buy plants and dirt and I have had a few blisters! DH was going to hire the neighborhood gardener, but I like to do things my way.
Deb, I'll go out now and take that pic. You will love the variegated lemon. I can start you a cutting if you like. I can send you lemons cause Mich isn't a citrus producing state. The leaves on it are very fragrant when crushed and the flowers smell wonderful.
