My husband's step niece sent us a birth announcement. This baby was born into a family that is not lacking anything. I would like to send the baby a gift and thought a book would be great. Any suggestions?
Book for baby gift?
My sister-in-law once gave me a family tree book with spaces for parents, grandparents, etc. There are places for photos and narratives and whatever else you might want to include. This probably isn't the type of book you had in mind, but it's something that the child could have as a keepsake. It would offer a connection to his/her family history.
I have to admit, I let mine fall by the wayside a while back and haven't made an entry in years, but one day (!) I'll get back to it.
You can't go wrong with a nice Mother Goose collection. Toss in a couple Sandra Boynton board books for sooner reading. I can still recite the "Going to Bed Book" by heart. Donald Crews "Freight Train" is also nice. I have a video of my son "reading" it at 18 months. Jannell Cannon books are lovely.
I am a Robert Sabuda fan. He makes pop up books of extraordinary beauty. His 12 Days of Christmas is fantastic. It is not a baby book but a treasure to have from year to year (and not something others are likely to send lol). Amazon carries it very reasonably.
I love books and could go on and on.
Okay one more: David Pelham has wonderful pop ups for children. We spent many an hour with "A is for Animals"
