Nephews Memory garden ideas

Hi everyone!
I am just looking for some ideas for a memory garden to start in the spring for my 12 year old nephew.
He was killed on Thanksgiving by a hit and run. Were he is going to be buried you are allowed to have a garden as long as you take care of it. Fortunately it is within walking distance to my home, I have already volunteered to be the care taker. It is pretty much full sun. I have lots of ideas but it will be nice to get some other input. I am in z6.

I'd sure plant some resurrection lilies:

plus, some oriental lilies to come up as surprises amongst whatever else you plant. To me, they seem like resurrection, too..

Oh Ronnie I am so very sorry for your families loss. What was your nephews name? I ask only because I persoanlly like planting 'name sake' plants whenever possible.

plus, some Casa Blanca oriental lilies to come up as surprises amongst whatever else you plant. To me, they seem like the resurrection, too..

I am so very sorry. For my memory garden for my brother, I planted plants with his name, places he visited, the ferns he gave me, colors of football team etc. If you are able to share any specifics, I am sure that we can find plants to suggest and share.

Darius ,I love the resurrection lily idea.
RikerBear, his name is Peter. Gardenwife for get me nots was my first choice :o).Marcia, He loved hockey and riding his quad and pink is his favorite color & they went down the beach alot.
