the DG time says 6:05 PM 11/21. The real time is 10:16 PST. Have I inadvertantly touched something I shouldn't have ?

I would say that DG time is correct and your clock is wrong. :)

I sync it up with the time-server.ndo.com hourly so the clock is always correct (should be anyway)

I checked with World Time Zone on the computer and the Public Service channel on TV,both match what is on my computer time and date feature. What I am having a hard time understanding is the eight hour difference in DG time and PST.Perhaps something very simple, but I don't know what it is. Sorry to bother you about something so mundane, maybe someone else has a similar situation.

Oh, maybe you have your timezone set differently? Go to Preferences (from the top of the page) and then click on Timezone and set it correctly. Let me know if that does it.

Mine is fine and, by the way, I didn't have to do anything to adjust for the demise of Daylight Savings as so many others had to do.
Puzzled me.

I'm on the west coast and the DG time is always an hour ahead of me. And yes, my computer matches my watch and every VCR and Clock in the house. shrug. I just figured that DG ran on a different zone or something.

Mine changes automatically too. jMaybe it has to do with the systsm date time settings on your computer.

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Checked all that.'Time' in preferences is OK and automatic.DG is still 8 hours ahead of me.I have GMT+1 in the menu area. This computer is 5 years old so maybe it takes longer to get up to the the current time.LOL

I think Pacific Time Zone is supposed to be GMT -8.

Edit to correct my typo.

You are right MaryEv cuz I believe it's GMT-7 here now.

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

MaryEv & caron, I just switched to GMT + 8 and the DG time in the right hand end of the blue line still says 8 hours ahead of me (11:15 VS 3:15 ). It isn't something that will affect my position in the scheme of interstellar exploration, but it has caught my curiosity.Thank you for the tip.

It must be minus (as in -8) before the number of hours difference if you puter allows it. We are always earlier than GMT. Just depends on daylight savings time in your zone.

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Switched to GMT - 8 and still the same thing.Since it says 12:30 am maybe I'd better go to bed?????

Ok, for some reason the internal system clock won't set correctly. It's hard to do this over the net. lol!!!

balvenie, I updated your preferences to Pacific Standard Time so you should now be all set.

best,
