They are nothing spectacular but I guess it depends on who's reading right? I absolutely love having them growing wild all around our house here and try to leave them as they are as I re-landscape. I found these seedlings today and thought someone here might want them. Any takers? I've included a picture and I'll include a picture of the grown plants for those of you not familiar with them. I'll split what I found in half for two people. A priority envelope should do.
I have Saw Palmetto for SASE.
What are they? :-D
Ughh! Duh! Sorry about that. Saw Palmetto.
I would like to have one :-D What should I do? Wanna trade?
i would too. does it flower?? either way i want one. thanks Marie
Postage is fine. I'm not sure what a priority envelope costs. Anyone here know? They should be fine and that will keep the cost WAY down for you both. It does bloom but it's not your typical bloom. It resembles a corn stalk bloom.
I believe it's $3.85. Do you want me to just send the stamp? :-D
Well,
There is another option that is less than that (I believe). I just don't think that anyone should pay $3.85 for this. I can do a regular envelope and do first class postage. They are super hardy so I don't expect any problems. Just send one dollar. I'll email you my mailing info.
imzadi,
Please let me know if you're still interested and I'll send you my info as well. Thanks.
Great! Thanks :-D
We're chatting live practically. lol
Take care.
yes i am interested still
Could you both email me your mailing info and I'll get these out right away so they don't sit around here too long. I'll just wait and get the postage after they've been sent. Thanks.
Sent you mail...Thanks!
Got it! Thanks.
sent email and money left today.
Thanks imzadi. Can you please email me your address. I'll get these out for you ASAP. Thanks.
Oh.! I got it. Thanks for the info.
LOl
I noticed this late, but if you should 'yank up' another one, I'd love to have one!
If you're done, though...I understand!
Nan,
Please email me your mailing info. I've got a jungle of them and I'm sure I'll find more.
Still waiting...
I'm SO sorry to everyone who is still waiting on their plants. I promise I'll get these out. My truck is loaded to the brimm with bricks (still trying to unload them since I was out with a cold) and I can't use it to go to the post office cause it looks like a low-rider pickup and I might get a ticket for some sort of "maximum load" violation or something. I'll just have to catch the mail-lady when she makes her round here to the house. I feel so bad about this. I'll send you all the plant you've requested with the postage you sent. I'm just so embarrassed to have taken so long. I should have plenty for all interested but first comes first. I'll get those out to the individuals who sent SASE. Thank you all for understanding and feel free to contact directly me with any concerns you might have.
still waiting on this and starting to get worried as havent heard from you in a couple weeks now.
Me either :-/
sending email as it is now into January.
Kim and Maria,
I dug some larger ones up for you both. They'll be going out tomorrow. Sorry for the delay and please let me know how the arrive. These are at least 2-3 years old vs. the others that were only a few weeks old. They have nice larger bulb-like bases and should grow even more rapidly as they are considerably larger.
I've been away from DG for quite some time. Today was my first day back since back in Dec. Thank you all for your patience. I only show Maria and Kim as having sent me SASE. If I've missed anyone, please let me know. If I haven't missed anyone, I have an additional 2 available that I can send. I would dig more up but they are very deeply rooted and prickly. There is way more work involved than I had anticipated. I only as that you wait until you get them to send the SASE. Thank you all once again.
Maria, Kim,
Please email me directly if you have any questions. Take care.
Hugo
Hugo, dont try to dig up one that is very large. It is impossible. Those darn things are connected through a root system that rivals the New York system subway system. I almost killed myself trying to dig up one for a friend that was a decent size. Good to see you back, you have been missed.
was beginning to get worried about you too. Stay in touch
I never did send any postage, as I didn't receive an email with your address.
I'll pass, anyways, for now....I've got too many plants and not enough windows and lights! lol!
Glad to see you back, too, and hope all's well.
Donna, Lisa,
It's nice to see the both of you. I've lost so many things to the recent freezes. I completely under estimated them. The main things I lost were passion flower cuttings. I'm still trying to get some other plants brought itside. I'm also trying to keep the plants inside from fading from lack of sun. I need to set up some lighting or something.
Lisa,
I know exactly what you mean by the root systems of the adult/larger saw palmettos. I have actually dug a couple up a little while back. What a task! Never again. I just dug them up because they were starting to grow into the lawn area. These that I have dug up have a base about the size of a small onion or a large tulip.
Hugo, Thanks so much for the plant. I received..But you returned my seeds :-( They were a gift to you...
Thanks again
Kim
Kim,
I'm SO sorry! (and not to mention embarrassed) I was so "stuck" on sending the SASE back that I didn't even open it.
I'll tell you what, just hang on to them and maybe we can do a trade as March get's closer. I love March. I can let my guard down on this winter then.
So everyone got their stuff right.? Ahhhh..... (I can relax now). lol
I have been amazed at what has not died back over here. My bananas did lose their leaves but have actually put out new leaves. Most of my passion vines are up against the house. Those are still growing and Lady Margaret and Citrina is actually blooming. My brugs lost their leaves but have now put out new leaves. The huge elephant ears have also died back but are putting out new leaves.I have some mother of thousands that are over 6 feet tall and have buds on them. Waiting for the blooms. I am only a couple of blocks from the water so it tends to be a few degrees warmer here. I did lose my mandevilla on my mailbox. The cuttings you gave me are tucked away in my spa room where it is warmer and humid.
OK Great! Once again..Thanks so much :-D I just took a wild guess what you might could use..LOL
They were: Japanese Silver Grass, Anagallis Monellii, and Chasmanthium latifolium
I would love to participate if the plants are still available. I am new and anxious to get started, even have spring fever....Thanks
Ant,
Send me your address via email and I'll see if I can send you some of these for SASE.
Lisa,
It's nice to hear how well your plants are doing. I can't wait til we're all able to start trading again. I imagine that a lot of people slow down or completely stop winter trading. The elephant ears you gave me are doing awesome. The woodrose I thought would be fine outside but it died back so I'll have to wait and see if it will come back once things warm up again. This winter has been pretty amazing hasn't it.? I wish they were all like this.
Thanks for the update Kim. We'll have to see about another trade in the (hopefully near) future.
Hi Bug freak. We're going to Fla in March. Staying around the lakeland area but driving to Webster, Deland, Ft. Myers, Orlando, Sarasota. etc.
Buttoneer,
I live near Pensacola. I'm new here so I'm not quite sure where I'm located in relation to the places you mention. I know where Ft. Myers, Orlando and Sarasota are (faaar from here) but none of the others right off the top of my head. I hope you have lots of fun here. Things still haven't quite returned back to normal since the hurricanes though. I'm sure you will still manage to have fun. Maybe you can come by and take some plants with you. But then again, they may not like going from zone 8b to 6b.
We have a greenhouse and put the plants outside in the summer. No problem here in zone 6b but if you are clear North, we are not going up that far, only sticking to central & SW Florida and spending a day in Deland with a friend.
Bug- been worried about you- havent seen you post in ages!
Coming to the Florala swap?
