Search problem

PNW, WA(Zone 8a)

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I wanted to look in the db for a Hibiscus Rosa-Sinensis of a particular sort. I searched under HRS and of course recieved 7570 hits. At the bottom it listed 20 pages and then Next. Once I was at the 20th page it wouldn't list more pages so I had to go one page at a time from there on. It's a slow process that way if you know what your looking for is down the alphabet. Did I do something wrong or is this a glitch?

Thanks

Robin-

Hibiscus happens to be one of the "special" genus in the PDB with it's own category. Here's a link to the Hibiscus genus. It allows you to select the first letter of the cultivar name if you know it.

I guess I'm assuming you know the cultivar name....I hope so. If not, what info are you searching for? Maybe someone can help you with a better way to search for it.

Brenda-

Oh, yes I know the cultivar, it's Brilliant, and I did find it because I just kept hitting next. I just wanted to know is there was a better way. I'm starting to get more and more interested in hibiscus's and had visions of having one that started with Y and having to page through for it!

Is there a list of the "Special Genius" types that can be searched in this way? The link you listed is great. Much better.

Thanks

Brenda, can you tell me what you typed in to get this page? I'm a real doofus when it comes to finding things in the PDB. Maybe we should have lessons on a special thread one day.

On the PDB home page there are 2 boxes on the left of the screen at the top. One is "Browse Popular Cultivars" That is the one I used. I selected Hibiscus and then posted a link to that Hibisicus page in my first post to Robin.

If you click on the drop down box you'll see there are many genus in that special search.

I hope that helps and that I explained it well.

You can also get to that particular search by clicking on the "Search and Browse Tools" in the maroon bar under the Tabs in the PDB tab. Once you click on that it is the "View detailed reports on popular cutlivars" option.

Thanks. The browse popular cultivars doesn't show up without my scrolling down and I've missed it. I think I need to start drinking more coffee. LOL! Thanks again.

Edited to change word to "without" not with.

Brenda-

Thank you. I think that's one of the more helpful things anyone has taught me around here. Very helpful.

Thanks again

Glad to be of service, ladies. Off to poke around in the yard now that it's warmed up a bit to 60* or so.

robin.....if you type "tropical hibiscus brilliant" (common name and cultivar) into the search window it will return that exact entry you are looking for and only that entry.
