Watching threads vs Watching Forums

I mark many threads for watching throughout the DG universe, and they all show up on my watch list when I log in. I have marked no Forums for watching (via the member preferences).

SO1 tends to watch particular Forums through the member preferences options. Yet he also has threads which he has specifically marked for watching within those Forums, but they don't show up separately from the general Forums Watch list like mine do.

Does he need to unwatch a Forum to allow the watched threads within it to show up on his list?

We're a lil confused right now... :)

I'm not sure why they are showing up differently unless his don't have new posts and yours do. When you log in you will get a list of any of your watched threads that have NEW posts in them, followed by your favorite forums whether or not they have new posts in them. So if he logs on and there are not new posts in any of his watched threads, then they would not be listed on his home page. However, you can see a list of all threads that you have marked as watch regarless of when they were last posted to by going to your My info page and clicking on watched threads.

Good point on the difference, Pville, and how to get around it. :) It seems that his marked threads don't show up differently from his marked Forums, so it could be a matter of when he checks them (which is far less frequently than I do).

Hmm... a thread might pop up in his thread watch list if he logged in after they posted, but before anyone else did in that Forum, so he'd see it as the individual thread. Yet if a little time had passed and postings occured in other threads in that Forum, it all might just be indicated by the general Forum watch?

It's curious to me... and a great puzzle to solve. :)

P.S. I have no problem tracking down *MY* watched threads... lol... they greet me almost everytime I log in!

Update here...

"HOUSTON, WE HAVE NO PROBLEM". :)

SO1 has no trouble with receiving info on either updated threads *OR* Forums from his watch list. He just explained to me that he wanted to watch another Forum which we figured out a bit earlier via the member preferences area, which is easy to forget about.

Ummm... nevermind!

*giggle*

On the subject of threads I'm a bit confused with a different aspect. Watching Perry's series on his great cabin I click on todays photos to enlarge them, then click the 'back' arrow to return to see the next entry, but what comes back it yesterdays entries. What is the reason ?? It doesn't happen on every thread, just now and then.

Sounds like your system has cached (stored) an older view of the page, perhaps?

Check your settings in Internet explorer/tempoary internet files and make sure the box marked - and make sure check for new every visit to the page (each time accessed) is checked instead of automaticly.
