This is one of my favorite pictures... my dad and my older brother, Lloyd. Dad always put in a big garden, and he always ran a stake on either end of a row, attaching a string between them to keep the rows straight... they never were. We used to tease him about it. My brother Lloyd was so young here. He was in the Air Force, on leave, I think. He couldn't have been much more than 18 years old. This picture was probably taken in the early 50's.
Really great photo and story, Weezingreens! One that you will cherish for years to come, I have no doubt. :)
I wonder what it would be like to be 108? weez......can you imagine all that livin' E...............that would make ? yrs of gdning alone!
OldFlowerGirl - Of the 4 or 5 times I have been to the lake in the winter there was only once when the lake was close to freezing. The surface of the water was slushy like a slurpee which confused my poor dog. We were out on the dock and she just stepped off thinking it was a solid surface and down she went. She was a good swimmer and was out in no time but I never saw her swim faster!
Did you vacation at Christina before moving from Edmonton? Just curious how you would decide to make such a big move.
Thanks for the kind offer - we don't have any plans just now but I will let you know if we are in your neck of the woods.
jagonjune - I have seen the postings about the Roundup but unfortunately it's not in the cards for me this time. Looks like quite a gang will be in attendance. Should I warn the authorities? tee hee....
Susan, we had vacationed there a few times, and I was completely smitten with the place, hence the move. My husband and I are very impetuous people as well. LOL
Your poor doggie. What a shock that must have been!. My dog did that once in the dark only the lake was a swimming pool with a cover on it. He just disappeared! LOL But as funny as it was, it could have been dangerous had I not been there to fish him out, 'cause he was just a pup and not big or strong enough to haul himself up on the edge and out again.
You do let me know if you'll be out our way. Too bad you aren't going to be able to make it to Victoria. :(
This was taken the same year as the one from Italy...It is of the Ice Glazier of "Grossglocken" in Austria. It is the highest point in Austria that you can get to by car.... I was with my DH and our two daughters for this vacaction of Europe, we visited Germany, Switerland, Italy, Lichentstein, Austria. We flew to Germany, where we rented a car and drove in the direction that the car was pointing to when we got in it each morning......We had no hotel booked or anything like that...It was quite an adventure..
OK I wont bore you with anymore...LOL
All of the photos we took on this vacation are very special to me....It more than likely be the last family vacaction. My daughter are 25 and 28 and are getting too old to vacation with Mom and Dad....
It was a magical adventure.....
Anna
Beautiful photos everyone. And such warm stories. I'm glad that you've filled this post, this is what I envisioned when I started it. Keep it going.
Anna, the trip must've been something else, and can you imagine goign for 'tea' in that wonderful building on the hill?? Amazing.
Don't discount another family hoiday, my sister and I went on a family holiday with our folks, just the 4 of us. She was 47 & I was 41. Three of us had a great time, my sister, well, did not.
Linda in Victoria
Anna, such fascinating photos! What a wonderful vacation you must have had and memories to cherish with your family forever. I want to go to San Frutoso...sniff
What a wonderful thread Linda! I've really enjoyed everyone's pics and now that my puter's working can finally say "Thank you!" for starting it!! :D
Same here - thanks for this, Linda. It's a great thread. My favourite photos (travel & family, mostly) are still on prints at this point - except for the plant & yard shots which you've already seen! Maybe someday we'll get a scanner. I've really been enjoying the scenery & the stories - thanks, everyone, for posting such wonderful photos.
