Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Got a letter from the International Library of Photography saying my photo of the Piebald deer was selected for the semi-finals in their contest! Here's a link to the photo on their site.

Thanks everyone. I can't believe it myself. It was just a month or so ago that the Holden Arboretum published the pics of my Helleborus and now this. What an honor. I was very fortunate to get this pic as these are apparently quite rare.
The final selections will be in the spring, I'll probably have forgotten by then LOL!

Haighr, congrats on the Arboretum choosing you! Now, about picture.com...they will next ask you to buy a book, with your picture in it. They might even send you a medallion. And then they will ask if you want to fly to New York for the awards and at that time you will find out if you are the Grand Prize winner.
It's fun to enter your photos, but this site is a scam. Don't spend any $ on what they offer you (I leanred all this by experience, except when they wanted me to buy the book and fly to NY, the light came on!).

wow thats wonderful keep us posted!!!

JoanMN I have won the same thing in Poetry, several of mine are in the Poetry Society on the Net, and I have had some poems published but when it came to winning I too was asked to attend a get together in FL. if I could not attend I could "Purchase" my award for $75 + $50 for the book, and still be entered to win the $10.000 in over ten years nothing has changed, then last year they accepted my picture of Hummer in tree, same results.
Haighr I hope this is not true in your case. good luck.

Thanks Joan and kareoke, I had a feeling it may be a sort of scam. I got the request to buy the "coffee table book" but have heard nothing about the NY trip! Thanks for the heads up, working in a law office, I have learned to be careful when they start asking for money.

One of my sunset pic was also chosen 2 years ago.....same story "Buy the book...blah blah blah"
Regardless of a scam or not your pictures is beautiful and you should be very proud of yourself.

Thanks much Riker, I do believe it is a unique shot of a unique animal. I sent the photo to the Smithsonian contest also, perhaps I'll hear from them !

Oh I hope so. Sorry to have added to the rain on your parade :-(

I hate to have put a damper on your excitement also but it is better to be warned, I did purchase 4 books that my Poems were in but at $50 a book it is very expensive, and I don't feel it is an award if you have to purchase it even though it was a beautifull silver bowl with my name engraved on i.

I have one of those books of poetry, not my poem but a poem written for me. The book was a gift.

Didn't burst any bubble here LOL! I been around way to long to be bothered by something like a scam! I appreciate the heads up from everyone, like I said working in this field I always get a bit reserved when the "Grand Prize" asks for money from me!
