No Luck with the Search option

I never seem to have any luck when I use the search. It seems to require a posters name & I can't or don't always know the correct name. Perhaps I just don't know how to use it correctly. Any suggestions.

I was searching for the discussion about the red X in the box & how to get it to display in emails.

Hostan....somebody was discussing that kind of search recently and as I understood it the member's name will only turn up in a search if they were addressed by that name in a post and not because they made a post. In other words, the text that is checked when you do a forum search is the text in the post box itself, not anything in the left hand box that identifies the person posting or the date and time of the post.

Not really Ulrich. You still have to put something in the first window to get any results. So if you put a member name in the 3rd window and leave the first window blank, you will always get 0 results. If you put a member name in the 3rd window and put something in the first window you will only get posts by that member that included the keywords in the first window.

Ok, I think I'm understanding it better now. My mind was fuzzy earlier, must have been the after effects of surgery Tuesday. I finally got it to work. Thanks for all your help.
