I saw at walmart they had these devices that you plug in the wall to keep mice away. The mice hears this sound that no one else can hear & it runs them out of the house or wherever.I just can't believe this.Has anyone got these & they work for real.I think it is just something to get your money.I don't see how they would work-but you may know something I don't.Any comments-would love to hear them.
Can't believe
Seems like the one I had was for all small pests, not just mice. I used it for years... but I also had a cat so who knows if it worked or not?

My mother thought she had squirrels in her attic, and bought one of these, but I couldn't tell you if they work or not. Turns out she had a HUGE colony of carpenter ants in the walls of her house, and the scratching sound she heard all night was them MOVING and chewing up the studs.
Yup, that's pretty gross. :-)
At Wal-Mart you can always take it back for a refund if you find they don't work!!!
I've used them in the past and found them to work well, but I suppose it depends upon the environment. If memory serves me correctly they last for about 2 years.
I'm glad you told me Wal-Mart has them in stock, I'm definitely going to put it on my shopping list.

Yes they work. It is merely an electronic version of a dog whistle. Many animals have different hearing ranges from us humans. Dogs hear sirens before we do. Dog whisltes which human's can't hear have been around forever. The only problem I see is if you have household pets these devices could be very stressful for them as well.
Not a problem with the pets, I have birds, cats, dogs. None of them were bothered by this device.
Judy
Good to know Judy. I have stayed clear of them only for that reason.
Thank you so much for all of your great information.
I have two dogs-so it's good to know,it won't affect them.
I may just have to give them a try.
They come in packs of 2 for $14.97-so how many will be needed for a 25,000 sq. ft. home?
