Fall Colors

Paris, TX(Zone 8a)

Hello to all. I posted this picture on the Texas Garden forum. For all of you who already seen it, please forgive me for repeating myself, but I just love it. Gardening is a new hobby of mine, and I'm quickly learning how the simplest of things can bring so much pleasure. Would you believe that I love the smell of dirt?

This isn't a fancy picture, just a leaf, but the color is amazing to me.

Beautiful jdee! Red Maple, right? And, no, you aren't crazy, I 'll bet we'd all admit to loving the smell of dirt :)

I'm not sure. My husband said it was a maple, not sure what kind. I was told in the other forum that it looks like a Red Maple.
I discovered that I like the smell of dirt last year. Somebody came by and wanted to rake our leaves for a little extra money. After they had gone, I went outside to look, and the first thing I noticed was this clean, earthy smell. I don't quite know how to discribe it, but I'm sure you know what I'm saying. And I think I'm raking my own leaves from now on. I don't want to miss out again.

Looks like a Red Maple to me also. If the underside is sort of whitish, then it probably is.

I went outside this morning and took some more pictures. These may be boring pictures to most people, but I really love these colors.

This is the last one. I'll be honest and confess that I grouped these leave together for this picture. I just find it amazing how leaves from the same tree can be different colors....
