Dave - I sure hope there's not a way to do this.....if there is just point me to it.
We have the ability to look up All Threads Started by langbr. We can access this by selecting that option on my Member Page. Can we have a way to See ALL Posts we've made?
I know you can go to the Forum Search and type in a word or two and a member's name and look that way. It seems I'm always remembering a post I made but have to go on a scavenger hunt to try and find the post. Any possibility we could at that kind of option to the Member Page?

It'd be great to be able to search for text in our own threads like we can in our DG mail.
Kimberley - I do that using the Forum Search feature and type in the text (when I know it) and my own name. But I was hopin got be able to see a list of threads if I don't know any unique text. Maybe I just remember I was chatting with someone but don't remember the topic.
Also, searching your name does not work if you don't sign your posts or if someone does not address you in the body of a post in the thread. If after I posted this, I went and searched for my member name, this post would not come up since no-one has said "sw*ezel".
I've also wished we could get a list of the posts we've recently replied to. Sometimes I reply to a thread and forget to watch it. Then I try to find it again later and it's hard to remember the title of the thread. And, sweezel is right, unless your name is in the thread, a search doesn't find it.
Sweezel - you can put in your username in the third field "Show Only Posts By:" My problem is you can't put in "the" or "A" or anything general like that in the Text to search for field to find all your posts. You pretty much have to know a defining word.
My problem is when I know I had a discussion recently with someone about Hollyhocks and I search for "hollyhock" with posts by langbr then I don't get what I'm looking for because I didn't actually mention the word "hollyhock" in the posts. If I could see a list of all my posts and be able to see a date range (last week, last month, last 3 months, last year, ALL) would be great.
If it's feasible, it would be nice to be able to instruct the search engine to
search thread title for [fill in the blank]
or
search posts for [fill in the blank]
and to limit the search
to those made by [fill in username]
and/or posts made between
[start date] and [end date]
Alternatively (or perhaps in conjunction with some search refinements), should we consider archiving the posts that haven't been actively posted to in [1 year, 2 years, or "x" months or years]
We're creeeping up on the five year mark, and that's a lotta posts to chug through.
Of course, icing on an already awesome cake would be the ability to instruct the search engine to:
a) include archived posts
b) search ONLY archived posts, or
c) ignore archived posts....
Stopping to strap on my bullet-proof shin guards over my steel-toed boots, as Dave is likely to shoot-to-maim or drop something REALLY heavy on my toes ;o)
LOL
You know what Brenda, I forgot about that option. :) But now it's not working at all. I just did a search with your name, all forums, and "a" and nothing is coming up. That can't be right. http://davesgarden.com/forums/search.php?forum=&search_text=a&limit=0&limit_poster=sweezel&Search=Search
Hmmmm....
Our Dave doesn't do those sorts of things, does he Terry?
I'd be happy with just being able to see all my posts.
(although restricting searches would be nice too!)
sweezel, you must search for a word or phrase that contains at least three lettters. A search for "a" won't work.
Brenda, ummm, no of course not. I just worry which of my bright ideas might someday push him past the breaking point ;o)
a-ha! More than 3 letters you mean? Thanks Terry! So that's what Baa has spoken of before when she says she can't search for her name in posts. Duh!
Doesn't it throw out common words too like "the" and "and" as well?
if you try to search only by "the" or "and", then you won't get any results, but I'm not sure if it disregards them within a search phrase....
Didn't Dave say in a prior thread that he knew "work was needed on the search function" or did I dream that!!!
Judy
Dave - bumping this up to see if it's something you could put on our member page (View All Posts You've Made) or some-such thing. I wasn't really asking for a change to our current Forum Search tool, which I know you are still kicking around how to change.
Thanks!
Brenda
I have wondered about this feature too. Maybe it would seem less overwhelming if it didn't have to include old posts and just move forward?
I can't believe what you do now though, so this is asking a lot.
