two questions

New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

Hello..I have two questions. First...what do the initials U.B.E.R stand for under some people's names?
Second...what is the difference between a member and a subscriber?
Thanks ....Marcy

Uber is not initials. It is a German word meaning over, or super.

A subsciber is a member who has full access to all the features and resources of the site. A member has no write access to most of these forums and only limited acces to the Plant Data Base.

Actually the U in Uber should be with umlaut to be correct :)

I know, but my keyboard won't cooperate with umlauts

Celaya, Mexico(Zone 10a)

You better have a chat with your keyboard then LOL

Pflugerville, TX(Zone 8b)

oh I talk to it all the time.....and you don't even wanna know what I say to it! LOL

Celaya, Mexico(Zone 10a)

Maybe you gotta talk to it in German, swear to it in French and type in English like me to get those Umlauts LOL

Pflugerville, TX(Zone 8b)

sheeeesh.....by the time I do all that I'll be swearing at way more than just the keyboard LOL

How to use Extra keys:
â Å Ñ £ º ¢ ¿ & so on.
Hold down the Alt key, then type 3 numbers off the calulator keypad.
There are 65 different symbols on my windows ME.

I just sat down & went through all the combinations of 3 numbers until I had them all. Interesting to see what comes up!

LOL! Bernie, did you put them into a word program so you can share them? I have tried doing that, but never wrote it down, so when I need something I have to do the number thing also. Usually I just give up before I get it right.

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

I just have them on a list near my computer. Lots of them I have memorized.

No prob Marcy :).
Within this thread we right away showed you how quickly people can hijack a thread of totally valid and serious questions with complete goofy stuff ( I'm standing in front of mirror with finger waving sideways and saying bad bad bad..... :)

CountryGardens, for Umlauts it's much easier to use the "US international" Keybord setting.
With it one types " then U to get Ü (` + U = Ù, ^ + U = Û,... etc.) no need to remember ASCII codes for those.

For anyone on Windows you can go to your Start Menu, then Programs, then Accessories, then System Tools and Character Map. There's a whole 'nother world out there on the Character Map. You can even copy the character you want once you've found it and then paste it here in the DG forums.

Too bad you are all PC folks... on my Mac, it's easy to get the umlaut. Just hold the "option" key for the letter, strike the letter, and then the letter... as in: é, ü, and so on.
