Journal help please!

Pocola, OK(Zone 7a)

HELP! I have really botched my journal up. When I go in to Manage Your Own Journal page, it takes me directly to Step 3 and leaves me hanging with a Default Journal I don't want anymore. There are no buttons to help me navigate. The only thing I can do in this page is add a new item and I don't want to do that since I want to change the name of my Default Journal.

And what the heck is "Jump to RID"?
Thanks, Sherri

cherish...here are the steps to follow.

Click on Manage your own journal

Then click on Manage journals under the Main Menu items.

Enter the name you want to use for your journal in the blank window and click submit.

If you want to move stuff from the default journal into the new one go back and click on Mange journals again but this time click where it says Click here to learn how to move one journal's contents to another journal and follow the insturctions.

Once you have moved everything to your new journal, you can then go back and empty the contents of the old one if you want.

I have copied and pasted EVERYTHING on this page. I don't have a Main Menu and I don't have Main Menu items. That's my problem. The ONLY clickable link on this page is "Planted in Circle Bed (0)"

Welcome back to your "Default Journal" Journal, cherishlife Jump to RID: Search your journal:

Step 3...
You now need to start your journal off by adding for first item. You do this by going to the category in which you want this item to be created. When you have selected your category, then click on "Add a new item".
Select the category from the list below:

As long as I have links to work with, I'm usually pretty good at figuring things out, but I only have ONE link to work with. I can't get back to Step 1 to start over. When I click on the "Manage Your own Journal" link, it takes me directly to Step 3.

If you are not seeing the section on the page labeled main menu you will need to email through the "contact us" us link and report it as a bug.

However, if you only have one journal it is by definition your default journal regardless of what you name it. Since you only have one category and no items or entry in your journal maybe I'm not understanding what you are trying to do. I thought you wanted to start a new journals but it appears that you have just started your only journal so why do you not just want to continue with that? You can rename or delete that category if that is what you are trying to do.

I did try to use the "Contact Us" link!!!!! I was told to ask the experts on DG forum.

When I go the the "Journals" tab at the top of the page, I click on it, then I see two links. Below is my Journals page:

This is the ENTIRE PAGE. I only have one link. The Default Journal which I had set up months ago but gave up on, apparently because of this problem. This is my "Manage your own journal" page:

The problem is you have not created any of the things in the main menu.
I.E.

Main Menu:

* Main Page (This page)
* Manage Journals (Add/Delete/Move Journals)
* Manage Categories (Add/Delete categories)
* Statuses (Add/Edit statuses)
* Milestones (Add/Edit milestones)
* Privacy (Update your privacy settings)
* Access All Items (Or see below to narrow your view)

You have one journal (the Default) which has one category (Planted in Circle Bed) which has no stauses, milestones, items, or entries.

I'm sorry but I just don't understand what it is you are trying to accomplish. You said before that you had messed up your journal and wanted to start over with a new one and I explained how you could do that. But now that I have looked at your journal page, you don't have a journal to start over because it has nothing in it to begin with.

Pocola, OK(Zone 7a)

Finally figured out what the problem was. I had to create a fake entry into the Circle bed Default journal in order to get back to the Main Menu. Sorry for all the trouble. Thank you for trying to help. I really appreciate it.

No problem....glad you got it figured out.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

That does sound like a possible bug in the code if you have to create an entry to get back to the Main Menu. I'll make sure Dave sees this thread (sorry for the frustration, but I'm glad you figured it out!)

Terry

Pocola, OK(Zone 7a)

Not a problem, Terry. I'm glad I figured it out too. LOL
I think all it needs is a link back to the Main Menu, that way if someone wants to start over, they can.

Thank you both for discussion. I was stranded on "Step 3" also. This might be best reason to have "How 2 Forums" Terry is asking for input on.

Pflugerville, TX(Zone 8b)

Hi Larry....haven't seen many of my immediate neighbors post here so was glad to see yours.

Pocola, OK(Zone 7a)

I have a feeling being stranded in Step 3 is the reason a lot of people just give up and don't say anything. All it needs is a link to be able to start back on step 1 or go back to the main menu.......or both.

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Terry - This might be something to add in the FAQ for the Journal as a clarifier for folks getting "stuck" at this step. Sounds like it's not very obvious to ADD AN ENTRY at the stage where the first Category has been created.
