The explanation is simple. Dave now has the posting messages adjusted to our local time zones, so it is reported to me as Australian Eastern standard time. The note regarding editing is written into the message and has a standard time or the poster's time attached to it. Adjusting this for each reader would be much more complex and scarcely worth the trouble, but it does result in some surprising looking figures. I imagine it was actually edited 2 minutes after posting and the 16 hours represents the amount by which Australia is ahead of the USA.
