Problem using mozilla with chat

Pflugerville, TX(Zone 8b)

No biggie and no rush here but when ever I try to go to chat with mozilla it says no suitable plug in found. I have to revert to IE and then I get right in. Is there something else I need to download to chat using mozilla or is there some sort of setting I need to change for java?

Mozilla and Firefox don't come with Java, so you have to get that separately.

Gardenwife might have a good answer, but in the meantime you should be able to find your answer explained here:

http://texturizer.net/firefox/faq.html#q2.2

I presume you're using Windows, but instructions for Linux are on that page, too.

Thanks Dave. I installed the Sun Java.....is there anyway I can get to the chat room to test it or do I just need to wait until the next time it is open and try it then?

Go to this site to see if your Java is working:

http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.jsp

The first time I installed the Java it didn't work but then I clicked on the download button near the top of this page and after the installation it worked fine.

Correction, the button states "Free Download to Desktop"

Also, I'll leave the chat open today so you can test. Click here: http://davesgarden.com/chat/

hmmmmmm still not working. I did the download and the install/setup from my desktop. But when I cllick on the chat room it says click here to download plugin and when I do it says no suitable plug in found.

The installation was not complete. Did you follow the directions in that link I gave? Beyond that, I'm clueless as I don't use Windows and only know how to get it working on Linux.

ah....ok....it is working now......had done everything I was suppose to but apparently after you install/setup you have to close browser and reopen it to activate it.

Cool!

I used the chat room to test the bleed through that I was experiencing from having other Firefox tabs open during chat and it seems that the latest Firefox update has it fixed now. Yippeee! I have been chatting in FF and surfing in SoSorrySafari til now! Thanks!
