When members request their threads be pulled....

Crossville, TN

Dave...I may be way off base but here goes.

When someone leaves Dave's Garden and requests that the threads they have posted to be removed, I think it is unfair to the rest of the community that helped make that thread what it was.

Couldn't you state in the place where we sign up for membership that any and all posts belong to DG, and can only be removed when YOU or your staff thinks it is determental to the site? Just because some one leaves is no reason to leave a big hole in our community.

I will miss a lot of the ones that have left for one reason or another....I would hate to lose the good information and recipies that they had posted also.

I agree, Jo. Maybe it's like the new email? They belong to both participants?

Not only that but it lets the reader know that the person left angry. Makes you wonder what happened that someone would get so mad as to request all their posts be removed.

Howdy Folks...

From what I've witnessed, it seems that "disgruntled" subscribers in the past have asked that their individual posts be removed and the rest of the thread stays intact..

The threads stay here and often-times the majority of the info comes from us posters who contribute to a thread, so in that respect the info stays here on DG. Only the "dearly departed subscriber's" post are deleted.

I agree Jo, I know I come on an old post and replies are removed from them by user request. The whole thread is then out of context. I think it's a good idea when they sign up to state that posts can't be removed unless it's Dave's choice for the site. It would be the same for the database. Sometimes people leave for other reasons and have their post removed it's not always because they left in a huff. Cherishlife I am like you I always think the same thing.

I agree. Most threads start out either asking for, or giving, good information ...some get sidetracked...but they also have good information posted down the road. Once they get sidetracked, they are free game until Dave steps in or someone asks to have their posts removed.

When doing a search for some information, it's really hard to read a thread that's become discombobbled by the deleted posts, in order to get to the pertinant information.
