Just wondering why Ty Ty Nurseries with 80 percent NEGATIVE feedback is allowed to advertise on DG.

TyTy doesn't directly advertise on our site. If an ad is showing up, it's because they purchased a Google ad, and I don't think we can control which ads are displayed - if we have any control over it, I'd vote to not include them, and I think Dave would, too.

I know Dave is also trying to get more of the reputable mailorder companies to advertise directly with us (and hopefully phase out the Google ads altogether.) Check out the "Advertise" link in the tabs above - it describes the criteria that a company must meet to advertise with us. I know several companies are working on getting their banner ads prepared so they can advertise on DG - if there's a favorite, well-respected vendor you'd like to see advertise - email them. Encourage them to consider advertising and/or participating in PlantScout. (Never underestimate the power of persuasion that a single customer can have with a vendor, whether large or small ;o)

Thanks, Terry. I think I will email a couple that I am very happy with.

Terry,

I don't know how exactly, but I do know google will allow you to exclude specific advertisers. I'd looked into doing the adsense program, and remembered reading about it. It was done so you wouldn't have competitors ads showing up on your own site.

Well I just emailed 6 of my favorite companies about Plant Scout and Advertising opportunities here. I sure want to see more companies in the Plant Scout!!

You can indeed block advertisers from the Google adsense, but it's a real hassle (and a kind of cat-and-mouse game since they setup other domains that get past your blocks). I've tried the blocking in the past but haven't had real good success with it. I did add tyty this morning.

langbr, thank you so much for helping with that. I am confident that you will plant a "seed" in their mind, and that seed might germinate in the future. The more the companies support us directly, the less we need the Google adsense.

best,
dave

Great! I'm glad you were able to ad TyTy. I believe they should be put out of their misery. I emailed Gene at Munchkins Nursery. Hope he joins up. Will work on others.
