Managing E-mails

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Ok, another thought. If we can't delete e-mails, how about setting up a Priority System? Maybe something as simple as a flag - anything flagged goes to the top of the list, anything not flagged sinks to the bottom. That way we have some control over the mail storage and it becomes a little less cumbersome???

I have some plans in mind on the email system, so stay tuned. :) It should get better in time.

Summary of plans: gmail-style archiving option, searching (maybe) and of course an "address book" (buddy list).

Sounds awesome! And I wasn't really complaining about the e-mail system...I love it! It's so much easier than having to go back into my home account... especailly since I have DG on ALL THE TIME. Thank heavens my boss is a gardener and I give him treats from my trades ~:-)! No gardener is above a growable bribe, tee, hee!

Archiving would be GREAT, Dave. And I hadn't even thought of an Address Book. Cool!

The first update to the mail system is finished. I didn't add any new features but I did make it a little more intuitive. The rest comes later.

Wow...just checked it out. Very nice! And easy to use!

Thanks Dave!

Ok, so I already goofed mine up! I wanted to check it out so I hit the last column and it put things in reverse order. I decided I didn't like it but it wouldn't let me change it back ~:-(((. Oops!

PS My next button wasn't working before, but it's great now, as is the previous button.

Thanks!

Duh - color me silly! It went back when I re-entered the mailbox! Very cool! (You managed to program it to save me from myself. Sure you don't want to "program" the rest of my life???)

I found something out about the new system that i dont like. I've loved it up to this point.
I'm forgetful, sometimes too much, and easily confused. I relied heavily on being able to go to my old emails (offline) hunt down the one with trade info and get what i needed without having to sign on to the internet.
With the new system, i now have to sign on, log on to daves and then go to the old emails.
Will there be a way around that in the future?
Thanks Jen

All your mail is now stored, and you can indeed search, so everything you need should be available.

If there is a specific feature that you'd like added to the mail system, just let me know!

Hi Dave,

I just posted about deleting old mail. I did try to search for a similar thread. Question............. can we search for anything in mail, like a word using member name, word in subject or body?

Best regards, Sue

Yes, you can search.

Can i forward specific ones to my aol email?

No, they stay on the system, just like threads do.

What about having an option to choose that emails would be forwarded to your email address, that way somebody could either pick whether they want to come to DG to read their email, or they could have it sent to them if they so choose.

Forgive me if this has already been covered.

For privacy's sake, they will stay on the website from now on. This way, your email address is safe 100% of the time.

If I allowed folks to email themselves their mails, then they would obtain the email address of the sender.

I think dave has a good point. I sell on ebay and because of it my junk mail has increased enormously. Those who are in the buisness of selling email addresses for advertising cruise sites like ebay and message boards strictly for the purpose of culling email addresses. Besides, I love having my email here all nicely stored and ordered for me.....something I am very bad at keeping up with in the case of downloaded email.

Can we block a sender's email like we can in our own email systems? This doesn't seem to be a problem now, but it could become one, especially with the "member ratings" feature. I know at least one member who became somewhat reactive after receiving negative ratings, and can see he/she sending the raters emails they don't want. Blocking would take care of that.
