How about covering it with flat marbles using a waterproof glue and then make it a fountain or very bright egg.
I saw a bowling ball done in the marbles to use as a gazing ball. (beautiful)
I just sat out a bowling ball that is a beautiful red swirl.

You could make a stand by heavily greasing a bunt pan and pour in concrete.

My friends husbands made supports for under there house as he tore out the trailer, by greasing a lg clay pot and poured in concrete. He let it sit until ready and it slid right out.
